51"Education will be truly effective only when it is specifically designed to meet the individual needs and interests of each student."

The speaker asserts that it is more effective for education to be designed to meet the individual needs and interests. I concede that it is often necessary for educator to provide some courses specifically designed for students in some cases, especially in university. However, the students still need some popular education, such as humanity, liberal art, humanities education, math, physical education and so on, so they are just like a coin has two sides.

It is true that the education, which meets the individual and interests of each student, can be more effective, for the reason that every student has his special character and advantage which actually differ from each other. To teach student what he is interested in and develop his full potential in certain field will boost his personal development. Especially in the field of art, the students must study the certain courses and practice when they are very young, that they may emphasis on developing their special skills but fail to all-round develop. And as the technology in every realm becomes more and more sophisticated, the society needs many more specialists today. And education in university, of course, must cultivate students the different skill deeply. Therefore, it is known that different departments of the university provide students different courses, as the students have not enough time and energy for advanced studies in all the fields. So it is necessary for university to do so: even if  the Thomas Shelling, the Economy Noblest in 2004, can not play piano, who cares?

While, aside from the foregoing points, the education should also teach students some basically popular courses: math, humanity education, physical education and so on. It does not need go too far to see the necessity. Studying math can cultivate the students' ability to think logically and reasoning. Studying liberal art can let the students know how to think, how to read, write, and speak intelligently, get along with others, and conceptualize problems. Studying humanities can make students have a right values and moral sensibility. Studying the physical education can give students health which promise them studying or working better. Without these kinds of education, the students probably can not be all-round developed.

In addition, it is a must for general education to exist in primary and secondary schooling. For one reason, there is so many students in a class that the general education can make the teaching more efficiently. Also it is unnecessary and impractical to design education specifically. Imagine the educators in primary and secondary schooling want to arrange different courses for different students, how difficulty the task is. Even if they succeed to do so, how we evaluate the ability of the students in the university entering examination?

Accordingly, whether it is effective to design the education for each student specifically should be determined on a case-by-case basis. Both the distinct of the students and the necessity of the general education should be taken in consideration.
