Whether technologies not only influence but actually determine social customs and ethics? In my view the speaker unfairly generalizes. Technologies have influenced the custom and ethics but far from determine it. In addition,
ethics changed little when technologies are developing quickly. Our society has its own moral foundation to keep our ethics.It should be admitted first that technologies has influenced our social customs indeed. Several thousand years ago, we know little about the variety of natural phenomenon, for instance, the famine, flood and earthquake etc. We consider that it was all made by deity who dominates the universe. So there are totem adoration and sacrifice livestock. These examples demonstrate that when under the primitive technologies. Nowadays, technologies help us from realize the natural phenomenon. The activities just like the totem adoration is exist. Meanwhile, we can precisely forecast it. On the other hand, the lifetime of people has become longer than ever with the development of the technologies. In another aspect, the middle-aged person has larger pressure from their parents. It makes the nursing home become more and more popular because that the older can communicate with their peers and the middle-aged may release the pressure from it. It means that our society is influenced by the technologies.

However, the society custom is influenced by many factors, for instance, the culture of the society and the weather condition of each area. The Thanksgiving Day has not change during our long history river. The initial people come to American do not acclimate the new environment. And the Indians who were the original inhabitants of North America offer great help to them. The sent the daily necessities to them and teach them farm. The next year they had a good harvest. And they celebrate it with the Indian. The food turkey they usually eat has now been the peculiar to the festival. It has never change during the development of the technologies, which renders that other crucial factors determine the society customs.

When facing with the technologies, our ethics has not change. As it is the fundamental of our communication and our life style and the society stability, for example, hardworking and braveness, honesty, fairness, self-discipline, fidelity to task, friends, and family. Those are all hardly change by the technologies. Even the mercy-killing has come out with the technologies; our morality refused it because it obeys our ethics. Meanwhile, the technologies of colony are developing. But it will follow the way which was lead by our morality.

In sum, I consider that technologies has influence our society customs a lot but cannot determine our society which is determined by a lot of factors. Moreover, the ethics influence but hardly determine by the technologies. Therefore, it is lead our technologies in the right way that can guide us to better civilize our society.写的很乱，不改了，麻烦拍砖了。
