In any realm of life—whether academic, social, business, or political—the only way to succeed is to take a practical, rather than an idealistic, point of view. Pragmatic behavior guarantees survival, whereas idealistic views tend to be superceded by simpler, more immediate options.

I agree with the speaker insofar as that practical is a way which can help us success. However, I disagree with the speaker's claim that pragmatic behavior is the only way.

In considering the academics, students who are think in a practcal way study only for getting good scores in final examinations instead of master the knowledge or regulations of a project. In a short term, such as term in school, these students seems successful, but the reality is that few of them is promising in their future for lacking a good command of  knowledge and right way of absorbing discipline which is far more important than score in for their later life. On the contrary, an ideal blueprint of future will inspire a student to pursue the true meaning of learning and then learn thing automatically and perdurable.

When it comes to business, more likely an enterpriser chooses practical and pragmatic plans to achieve largest profits. This seems an effective way in a short term. After all, we always see in public industries books which can attract human interests are usually most popular, in music realm, companies which acclaim more young people no matter whether it is positive to their mental health usually makes more money. Yet concerning these practical phenomenon, a company's chief executive should also have an idealistic point of view which can lead a company go further. World famous searching engine, Google, list its searching result by concerning times of chick, useful of information and other expert standard instead of by the amount of advertising fee-the way which other search engines such as Baidu always use to list in. Google's purpose is to establish a professional search engine. To accomplish this kind of dream may cost losing of profits in a short term, but can keep long and regular consumer, and thus gain long-term profits.

Turning next to politics, how a country will be if its government only thinks of more sources, more land or more profits instead of a sense of mission? The environment will be ruined and residents are living with unsafe. On the contrary, great changes taken place in People's Republic of China is based on an idealistic dream of communism. Had the government of China concerned themselves with short-term survival and immediate needs rather than building a different China, Chinese might still under the pressure of imperialism. It is the idealism which lead one fifth of whole-world population to a stable and happiness life.

In short, the statement fails to recognize idealistic point of view play a more important role than pragmatic behavior in a long-term.
