Nowadays, the relationship and communication between nations are much closer than ever. Many of the most persistent social problems today can only be solved by continuing international collaborations. So, I tend to agree with the speaker's assertion that we should support to develop a global university in order to settle these problems.
Because of the trend of globalization today, many of the social problems are not simple domestic issues as we may confront inthe past. For instance, the counter-terrorism. This is considered to be one of the most important social problems in the world, which calls for international corporation. Because of the advanced transportation of modern society, the terrorists who commit disastrous criminal on one place are very likely come from the other end of the world. Without communications worldwide, it is entirely possible that the terrorists free of punishments they deserved. Therefore, it is important for us the world as a whole, with a better understanding of each other, to solve the international issue like the counter terrorism together.
In the long run, with the help of the development of a global university, we can build this kind of communication and understanding. The youth are the hosts of the world in the future, especially the ones we may have chosen to be educated in the global university. The learning they have in this university can help them establish a better connection with different  people and their culture. After many years of graduation, many of them might become the leaders and elites of their own country or world organizations. The solving of the international persistent problems will be much easier, result from a realize of the importance of  corporation and the better ability to understand each other, whcih they have already built in the global U.
However, we cannot blindly depend on the global university to solve all the persistent social problems of the world. Some of them are extrondinary urgent and need to be handled immediately, while the fruit of the global university have many years to wait to be embodied; some of them are extremely complex domestic issues that people from other countries or areas can hardly understand and inappropriate are  the intevene, even if you are graduations from the so-called global university. The environmental crisis we have today and the religious issues of middle-east, to name a few, are these kinds of social problems. Accordingly, besides the development of the global university, on the purpose of resolving other diffcult social issues, we have to find other means, such as a special international project on them, to help.
To sum up, it is a great idea for us every country in the world to build a global U in order to solve the persistent social issues in the world, especially some problems need international corporation and understanding badly. But, on some other cases, that are much urgent or special, it is necessary for us to find some methods that are more effective as the problems stand.
