51"Education will be truly effective only when it is specifically designed to meet the individual needs and interests of each student."

The education is not only for the purpose of developing individuals, but also has the responsibilities to meet the social needs. Therefore, the true effectiveness calls for a balance where there are both to meet the individual needs and to supply the social demand.

From the angle of completing personal qualities, it is a truly effective way for the education to be designed to meet the individual interests. As a common sense, the interests in the best teacher, and significantly motivate students to study actively. Another advantage of interest-oriented educational method is to stimulating the individual’s enthusiasm, which would inspire and encourage students to persist on learning further and trying, especially when they are facing difficulties. Moreover, one duty of education is to explore the student’s potentials and help them improve them. Designing the course to comfort with students’ interests could encourage them to think further about the subject and inspire them to seek for more information and knowledge, which in turn inspire more interests from them of this subject. Meanwhile these courses provide more opportunities for them to learn and think about the knowledge in field they like, and more chances for them to reveal and exercise their potential skills and talents. So the interest-oriented course could effectively improve personal education.

However, only to meet individual interests and needs of each student must always be counterproductive. The students, in particular during the elementary education periods, would be much more qualified if they are be taught with all-round education. Many basic courses which are significant important for their higher education or later careers maybe not attract all students’ interests. But as students, if they abandon these courses, then they would face much more unexpected difficulties, such as mathematics, international languages. And those difficulties would possibly handicap their potential development. Moreover, some information and knowledge are urgently demanded by the society, which could be seriously affected by lacking of this information in economy. For example, high technological information and special knowledge of economy are the most seriously lacked in Africa, where one of very reasons of the local economical development is strictly lagged is lacking of this knowledge. An effective education should meanwhile meat the social needs and demands, which to some extant call for the design of the courses depending on social application.

At times, education organized according to students’ interests caters for the social needs effectively, which mostly concentrates on the higher education. For instance of the education in university an college, students always conduct the special research or major studying, where most of them have finished their primary learning, and are qualified with solid and all around background. So the special education designed to meet their needs and interests, are always more effective. While their favorite study and researches are often selected from the school’s available courses list, which should organized based on both the university characteristic and social demands. Therefore, to educate individual effectively means cater for social needs effectively.

To conclude, interest-oriented course design could contribute to individual education effectively. But that measure only could hardly meet the demand of personal development and social needs for the education. Both interests, improving demands of the individual and society must be considered by the education when designing the courses for students.
