complicated web. people cannot comprehend such world without a mastery of knowledge of
several fields. So I definitely agree that university students should be required to take
basic science classes even they are not part of the field of the study.

First, in our daily life, we confront many phenomena that are associated with scientific
knowleage. It is necessary to know certain general knowledge about science. For instence,
when we are boiling a pot of water, we know that this is a physical change. when we are
baking a cake, certain chemical reactions involved. When we get a cold or injury, we should
know some basic medical methods to deal with them. These empirical evidences indicate that
living in a real world, we have a close relation with science. Only grasping basic
scientific knowleage can we lead a safe and convenient life.

Sceond, for many university students, they may want to pursue their academic career in
future. If they possess a interdisciplinary background, they will have more opportunities.
Taking me as example, in university my major was public management. When I wanted to apply
a institution for public health management study, the professor demanded related medical
knowleage. But I did not take these couses, so I lose my chance to study in this field.

In addition, the employment market competes intensely. Science and techology areas are hot
spots. In order to satisfy the needs of the maket, besides your own major, it is better to
take basic science classes.

In sum, taking what I have mentioned above into consideration, requiring university
students to take basic science classes will benefit them a great deal.
