Living in the information explosion society, people in increasing numbers regard computer as a sign of keeping abreast of the era. Noticed the need of their civilian, governments in many countries put considerable energy and resource on the development of computer science. However, I believe this financial aid should be allocated to other parts of social construction to meet the demand of people's basic need.

Admittedly, computer technology has changed the way people communicate and thus make the globe a smaller place. However, this technology fail to fundamentally resolve problems in many countries. Almost the entire continent of Africa is impoverished, their civilians need food and shelters. Computer is of none use in changing their misery life. Besides, their inferior construction level determined that the importing of such advanced technology will have minor or even none effect to better their life. They may even have no electricity to make computers work.

Besides, the accessibility of computer is fairly limited which means major proportion of the population can not get any help from it. Nevertheless, if the government allocate money on constructing public infrastructures, it will benefit the society at large. The crowded traffic condition may be changed by building more roads. The high food price might decline by advancement in agriculture. All these improvement will pose positive influence on every individual's daily life.

Furthermore, merely financial support in computer research can not guarantee any breakthrough in this realm, as the computer is a complex project which needs comprehensive technology in many area. While putting money on other aspects of society can get instant feedback. By allowing free injection of vaccine, millions of life will be saved. By purchasing rice from other countries, billion of people can survive from starvation. In a word, governments should focus on the matter they can solve rather than the things go out of their control.

From all the reasons I listed above, the inclination of financial support in meeting the basic needs of people is advisable and reasonable.
