In this argument, the arguer told us that a study of consumer responses to the new Luxess face cream was carried out, with a group of volunteers participated, who applied cream after washing their faces with mild soap every morning, and after a month, an improvement of the condition of facial skin was responded from most volunteers. Therefore, the arguer concluded that Luxess could effectively meliorate the condition of facial skin. However, there are several significant things the arguer failed to take into account, which undermine the credibility of this argument.

Firstly, the survey is problematic for no concrete information about it was provided. How many volunteers are involved in this study? And are they from different areas, because various environments may have diverse influence on the condition of facial skin? And whether they had said the truth is also open to doubt. In addition, one month is probably not enough for a long-term research.

Secondly, the enhancement of the facial skin’s condition of the participants is probably owed to other factors. As we all know, washing faces every morning is very important to the facial skin by taking something like dirt away from our faces. Besides, the mild soap might play an essential role in the volunteers’ facial skin melioration. In addition, there is possibly a psychological function working during the process. So with the absence of considering so many possibilities the arguer could never reach a convincing conclusion.

Besides, before I came to my conclusion, I must point out that not all the volunteers reported a marked improvement in the way their skin looked and felt. In other words, Luxess isn’t suitable to everyone, and even has some side effect which had appeared on some volunteers. Then if it’s the case, how can we believe Luxess’ effectiveness in improving the condition of facial skin?

From what have been discussed, we can learn that it’s an ungrounded argument. And in order to strengthen this argument, the arguer would have to provide more information in details about the survey, and do some control experiments to decide whether Luxess could play a crucial role in the facial skin meliorating. Additionally, information about whether Luxess has a side effect is also required to clarify its function
