Is the beginner more likely to make important discoveries in any field of inquiry, compared with the expert? The speaker claims so, and I partly agree with this view. I concede that the beginners are good at[这个词用错了吧] mental agility which is very helpful during the research, but experts also have their own advantages such as abundant experience, and they both have chance to make significant discoveries.
In the first place, in my opinion, experts means[are referred to ] those who have a lot of knowledge of their fields of inquiry and have been doing research for many years, while beginner just means one person take part in work of research for a short time. And we can divided beginners into two kinds according to the knowledge they have obtained.
One kind of beginners have a lot of knowledge even no less than experts, the only thing they lack is experience. For these beginners, their main advantage compared with experts is mental agility, which makes them always bring forward creative ideas and leads to significant discovery. As an illustration, in the history of science, there are so many young scientists who make great contribution to development of science. For example, famous physical scientist Broglie pointed out that wave theory was suitable for all substance at the age about twenty, which made a break in the realm of quantum mechanics. Compared with older experts, the younger ones are easier to get out of the fetter of traditional ways of thinking and so they can make important discoveries.
The other kind of beginners have little knowledge, then for these beginners, making important discoveries turns out to be almost impossible because of their lack of knowledge needed. As the illustration, to do some creation in any field of inquiry can be compared to do some cooking. And enough knowledge is just like the sufficient food material, while how to use the knowledge is the same as skills used in cooking. Stick out a mile, no matter how skillful the cookers are, they can not make deals without food material. Similar with cookers, no matter how smarter the beginners are, they can not make important discoveries if they don't have learned enough knowledge related the to subjects they focus on.
In the second place, although experts who do the research for so many years have some limitation such as being fettered by the traditional ways of thinking, which might make barricades during their process of pursuing important discoveries, they also have some advantages, compared with the beginners. One of the most precious is their experience, which help them reduce the chance of turning into a wrong way during their researching. Moreover, we can cite some famous people such as Edison, who made discoveries almost the whole life, as evidence to support the view that experts also can make important discoveries. In a conclusion, experts have their own advantages and should not be looked down upon when people talk about making discoveries.
In sum, we can not simply conclude that which group is likely to make important discoveries, [表达有问题,In sum, it is rash to decide which goroup ....]both beginners and experts have their own advantages and disadvantages. Beginners are good at creative thinking while experts have much experience, and both have the chance to make significant discovery.
虽说没找到很多错误,但是总体觉得你还是应该在语言上下功夫的. |
