177. "The study of an academic discipline alters the way we perceive the world. After studying the discipline, we see the same world as before, but with different eyes."
对于一门学科的研究会改变我们对世界的看法。在学习这门学科之后，我们看到的世界一如既往，但是我们本身的角度和眼光已然不同。

提纲(自己都不太清楚题目在说什么，硬着头皮写的，后来对了一下北美，好像分析的角度不太一样呵呵。）：
1、数学的影响；
2、物理的影响；
3、化学的影响；
4、生物的影响。

Does the study of an academic discipline alter the way we perceive the world? The speaker claims so, for after studying the discipline, we see the same world as before, but with different eyes. And I totally agree with this view.

In the first place, consider math. Children are always surprised at those tall buildings when they see them at first time, but before they know how to count number, the only thing they can see is that those buildings are taller than others, after studying basic mathematics, next time when children see those tall buildings again, they might point out how many floors they have, and it means they turn their abstract feelings into the concrete number and have a better understand of those tall buildings. It is obvious that the study of mathematics alters the way children perceive the world.   

In the second place, consider physics. Most of us have experience of seeing something drop from a high position down to a low position. As an illustration, if we stand on the ground and throw a ball up, then a moment later, the ball will be on the ground nearby. Before knowing the exist of gravity, we can only make a conclusion that things in high position will fall naturally according to our common sense. But after studying physics, we know that it is the gravity causes such phenomena. As the result, we make a progress from just knowing how it happens to what it happens, in other words, it means we perceive the world better.

In the third place, we should not forget chemistry. All of us use our eyes to perceive the world, and what we can see are only those macroscopical features of things. After learning chemistry, we know most things actually are made up of by atoms which we can not see by our naked eyes. Then it makes us understand the world where we live better.

In the fourth place, the study of biology is also very helpful for us to get a better perceive of the world. Before having a study of biology, when people enjoy beautiful flowers, they pay most of their attention to those fresh flowers and may ignore that green leafage around them. After studying the photosynthesis, we know the green leafage is more important than those fresh flowers for plants to exist. So biology also makes us perceive the world better.

So it is not doubtful that the study of an academic discipline alters the way we perceive the world, after studying the discipline, we can understand the world better.
