Do you agree or disagree: It is important to know events happening around the world, though sometimes they are unlikely to affect your daily life. (2007.4.29,生活与个人成功类)

In today’s world, various events take place at any moment. Some people think that it is no necessary to know events happening around the world, while others believe that it is very significant to know events happening around the world. As far as I am concerned, I hold the view that as a modern people, we should know events happening across the world, although they have no influence on our daily lives. There are two reasons supporting my point.

On one hand, being a modern people, we should know important events taking place around the world due to the requirement of knowledge. The level of one’s quality can be reflected by the realization and understanding of events happening domestically and others regions. As an old saying goes in china, we should be concerned about events happening both in home, the country and around the world. Compared with the ill-informed ancient times, it is in the earth where information can be spread out widely that we should even more well informed events occurring all over the world.

On the other hand, it is beneficial for us to know events happening around the world owing to the globalization of economy and politics. In present world, not only is an event happening in a country common affair, but it will have a close relationship with other countries. We should make a preparation for incidents happening in other countries and regions that may affect us, then take sorts of measures to minimize effects that they may trigger. Take Asian economic recession took place in 1998 for example, that financial depression overwhelming the entire of Asia in various respects. It is the very tremendous disaster for the development of Asian countries. In addition, by being informed of events happening around the world, can we learn the access to tackle with problems and conflicts in others countries and regions, such as the conflict of territory and the tension and friction among regions and so on.

In a word, from what discussed above, I firmly agree that, without any disadvantage, it is so crucial to know events happening around the world, although they are improbable to affect our daily lives.
