题目:ISSUE103 - "The study of history has value only to the extent that it is relevant to our daily lives."
字数:640          用时:00:43:53          日期:2007-7-6 17:13:47

Alone with the development of our society, numerous historical events are recorded, and the historians also place much attention on the researches on such events. And naturally, those studies, which have close relationships with daily lives of the public, are really valuable . Yet, if irrelevant to people's daily lives ,does the study of history have significance? Concerning this issue, basically I am prone to assert that the studies of history are able to avoid mistakes committed by our ancestors and follow their success as well, what is equally important, in the field ,which are irrelevant to daily lives of the people, the historical studies at least can preserve history and offer people proper description of the past.

To begin with, the analysis upon failures or mistakes of our ancestors can serve to remind contemporary people not to copy such failures. In the historical studies, analysis of the reasons and effect of the mistakes make a main part, at the time that historians reach their conclusions on the basis of their researching work, the people would draw lessons from the historians' conclusions to avoid evoking similar events. Consider, for example, after the calamity of the Second World War, German, one of the three evils in the war, makes introspects of their ancestors' guilt and legislates many corresponding laws to prevent the rectification of Nazism. In the present world, it is glad to see that the majority of countries devote their affect to maintain and protect the peace of the world. And this phenomenon would largely attribute to systematic study such most serious calamity in human history. Thus, the conspicuous value for historical study should lie in draw lessons to avoid mistakes of the past.

What is more, history also offers us great amounts of success almost in every field, especially in the fields of scientific inquiries, hence a care study of such success can give inspirations to the contemporary people. And such inspiration might include unique but effective ways of thinking, the attitude to treat failure, and the ability of objective analysis.  Equipped with no developed technologies, our ancestors, however, could make similar achievements as the people do at present using modern equipments and skills. What contribute most to the success for our ancestors inevitably turn to their wisdoms of solving problems. If such abilities are obtained by contemporary people, the development of both the world and the society might be greatly advanced.  An illustrating example involves that the longitude and latitude has already been precisely measured by ancients Chinese people, even nowadays, without necessary equipment, we can not still tell the accurate location. So we could make great achievement in mapping project by learning the corresponding ability from those ancient scientists. In consequence, the brilliant achievements of our ancestors deserve our careful study to guide the process of improving the world and the society.

Yet, there might raise doubts that whether the study of historical events which are not directly related to our daily lives have value as the aspects above. Facing such questions, I should claim that such irrelevant study to daily lives also have their value, though in other forms which can not be detected directly. For instance, the study of antique words such as hieroglyph and arrowheaded characters, which has little relation with daily lives for the public for no one would still write these kinds of words, is a best way to preserve ancient culture . And such study also give people description of the lives of our ancestors as endeavors-when asked our derivative, we are able to tell our unique identities , which soothes us by for not forgetting our ancestors or, in other words, for not being forgotten by our ancestors. Under this circumstance, there is no doubt that even the irrelevant forms of historical studies also have their certain value to our lives.

In brief, all the studies of history have their value, regardless of relevance to the everyday lives or not .

Alone with the development of our society, numerous historical events are recorded, and the historians also place much attention on the researches on such events. And(这个and去掉是不是更Nature一些) naturally, those studies, which have close relationships with daily lives of the public, are really valuable . [引出得很漂亮,学习学习]

Consider, for example, after the calamity of the Second World War, German, one of the three evils in the war, makes introspects of their ancestors' guilt and legislates many corresponding laws to prevent the rectification of Nazism.[例子举得不错] In the present world, it is glad to see that the majority of countries devote their affect to maintain and protect the peace of the world. And this phenomenon would largely attribute to systematic study (这里感觉短个介词,如果是study是动词,前面应该是systematically) such most serious calamity in human history. Thus, the conspicuous value for historical study should lie in draw(ing ?) lessons to avoid mistakes of the past.

(这个是问句么?不大懂,过渡到下一句好像不太自然)If such abilities are obtained by contemporary people, the development of both the world and the society might be greatly advanced.  An illustrating example involves that the longitude and latitude has already been precisely measured by ancients Chinese people, even nowadays, without necessary equipment, we can not still tell the accurate location. So we could make great achievement in mapping project by learning the corresponding ability from those ancient scientists. 层次逻辑都很分明,例子也举得很恰当,太佩服了,如果再去掉那些表达感觉不太自然的地方,就行云流水,完美6分。本人水平有限,也尽力改了,只能改到这个程度,见谅
