Issue 38
I agree that in this modern age, reading books is not so important as it used to be, because there have been numerous other means to learn and will havemore in the future. However, I disagree the speaker’s opinion that people can learn as much by watching television as they can by reading books. I have several reasons to support my opinion. 一般这样的话我建议你不要说,因为后会跟argument相混淆的
The primary reason that I agree that books are not so important totally because the countless ways to learn including television, one of the most popular things in this age. It is obvious that the same knowledge, which can only be seen in our books(有些还是不能在电视上教的, 例子我想想。。。在发给你 ), also appeared on televisions. Food making, extraordinary serenities of many wonderful places, cosmetics, and even education cannot escape the destiny of being taught on TV (although it is not so efficient). Furthermore, I think no other means than television can show exactly vivid pictures of the nature disaster of certain areas or a glimpse of outer spaces' mysteries, and even how other animals make a living in this magic world can also been seen precisely on TV. Therefore, books are in some ways waning their importance gradually.
The second reason why I agree with the speaker about the disappearing importance of books lies on the fact that the number of books expands just the same as the means of learning, spreading outrageously in enormous quantities. One of the most typical examples is the change of bookstores, small and at first simply decorated, a set of new fantastic architectures is showing itself, those are our great bookstores with numerous books in it. Hence, books are not all instructive as before when those businessmen did not regard them as having potentially merchandise value and produce as many books as they can no matter whether those books are good or not. (这只是其中的很小一部分原因,我不是很赞同的)Thus, it is very important for us to choose them carefully; at least it seems to me, selecting the most useful books is a wise decision. Although reading books is an active process, it is time for us to revaluate the importance of books.
Nonetheless, it is unfairly to say that people can learn the same thing 没有说明根谁比较? as they can by reading books. If the speaker's assertion is justifiable, then why schools in the world are still using books as tools to teach, and why people who want to study still want to buy some relative books at first? Novel never gives its way to television, newspapers will never be supplanted by news broadcasting, and the knowledge of our forefathers will never lose its significance when compared with televisions.(有些不清楚哦)
These phenomena have been proved by annually selected best sellers in our bulletin of those most popular books in the world. A large number of evidences demonstrate that books remain attractive and at least will not be taken place by televisions.
In sum, I believe that books are indeed not so important as before largely because many new ways appear to take some parts of its functions, however, there is no evidence to show that we can learn the same thing both from books and television, and both of them have their own advantages, but none of them can win over each other.
