TOPIC: ISSUE17 - "There are two types of laws: just and unjust. Every individual in a society has a responsibility to obey just laws and, even more importantly, to disobey and resist unjust laws."


As known to all, in the wake of the development of society, our life is changing rapidly. In the light of the fast changing, our laws seem not to be suitable all the time. Under some circumstances, the original just laws will alter to be unjust. Is it appropriate for us to conform to the just laws on the one hand, on the other hand disobey and even resist unjust laws?
  To begin with, in our society, as citizens, everyone has the responsibility to obey the established laws system. This established law system provides us a relatively fair environment to compete with each other. Without this system, one may use some inappropriate means to fulfill his or her goal, and improper means will jeopardize others’ just right. In the realm of business, there are severe laws to restrain every businessman's behaviors. They can do only things that are not only benefit for themselves but also not harmful for others. It is the just law system that protect our property from being diminished.
  However, with the improvement of the society, the law system sometimes seems to be obsolete to some extent. In other words, it indeed exist some unjust laws in our society. Facing these unjust laws, what can we do? Merely conform to them, or disobey and resist them violently? In my observation, everyone as citizen has the right to express his or her disagreement on our law system. But what is more important is that the way we express our feelings must be reasonable and appropriate. We must express our feeling through a legal way instead of only resist law simply and mechanically. Furthermore, disobeying and resisting established laws have little merit to help us to solve problems. This simply disobeying and resisting will lead to more serious consequences that may be not only having nothing benefit for the problems solution but also will result in further confliction.
  On balance, while conforming to just laws that will be benefit in the fields of business, politics, ordinary life, and so forth, we must present our opinions and stands of some unjust laws through a more reasonable and useful way rather than nothing more than mechanically harness some violent and meaningless means. And further more, if everyone regards the laws those are reverse to his willing as unjust laws and resists them, our society will become chaotic and will hurt the most people's benefit. The conforming of the established laws is to protect the most people's right not to be endangered.
  In the aggregate, what we need put more our energy on is to pursue some more meaningful means to diminish the negative and unjust side of our laws. The purely resisting has nothing to do with the solution of these problems. While not proved to be unjust, we citizens have the obligations to follow these established laws and make their best to protect them from jeopardizing.
