In the fast developing era of the society, both the scientific inquiry and the art, who have made significant achievement, declare to delegate the typical value system of the society. So there raise a question that which of the two really reflects the true value of a civilization. Concerning this issue, I am prone to claim that the scientific accomplishments rather than the artistic creations will do, for objective judgment.

To begin with, it is widely accepted that the art can be divided into several groups and have numerous fields, more importantly, the features of these groups or fields differ greatly. Classic music express their sobriety, jazz delegates vigor of the youngsters, and the country music transmits leisure of people. Even forms of arts in one certain fields tend to depict totally different value. Rather than paintings by impressionism embody their mystery, and some African dance show their beauty of wildness, such art in other fields would not conform to one conspicuous and stable belief. In fact, the art, which requires originality, could be deserve its name, if it can be regulated firmly by certain rules. Therefore, to generalize a typical value for the art would be difficult to achieve, let alone the value for a civilization.

In contrast with art forms, the scientific researches have always been seeking objective and reasonable solutions to no matter natural or social problems. At least, the scientific progress has their advantage of easily drawing epitome. What is more important, as scientists are all devoted to discovery the truth of the world, such epitome, though its concrete information might be dissimilar, is able to stand for the reality reflecting features of the world and to express the courage and spirit of revealing the truth of the world. At the same time, the material accomplishment makes up of a chief part of civilization. Naturally, one can draw the conclusion of where the true value of a civilization lies in without any trouble from the efforts by the scientists.

What is more, the real brilliant artists are always the individuals whose minds go far ahead of the public, the creations are just expressing hope for the future far away or some unrealistic minds, which have little relationship with not only daily lives of the public but also with the normal development of the society. Obviously, most of the minds reflected in the creations would not be accepted by the public and can not be applied in promoting the quality of life. Suppose if such minds could delegate the true value of the civilization, it equals to a fact that all the individuals keep to enjoy whimsical thinking but not to make any actual activities. This civilization has no choice but to face the destiny of self-ruining.

Yet, it is not to say that the art is of no significance and can not reflect the true value of the society. There are still many artists objectively recorded the fact, both merits and defects. We can learn from their work a desire of upgrading the  society and our daily lives, which deserves attention by the public and the government. Under this circumstance, the art can partly reveal the value worshiped by the society. Whereas, after all these artists do not make up a majority of the art, thus they can not deputy the art to reveal value system .
