Argument52

The following appeared in a memo to the human resources manager at Baobob Inc., a large architectural firm.
"Several well-known, retired architects were interviewed in Architecture Today about changes in the field. Only one had earned a college degree in architecture. All others had come into the field at an early age by serving apprenticeships that required them to work under the direct supervision of an experienced architect. Several of the colleges that we recruit from report that many promising architecture students leave school early in their undergraduate career. Therefore, because finding talented architecture graduates is becoming more difficult, Baobob Inc. should start an aggressive apprenticeship program and hire students who express an interest in architecture directly out of high school rather than wait for them to get out of college."

The author claims that an aggressive program should be started to recruit the students who show an interest in architecture as soon as they graduate from high school. To support his recommendation he cites the following evidence: 1) only one of the architects interviewed today had earned a college degree in architecture and the most had gone through a period as a servant of an experienced architects.2)a report from several colleges shows that many students leave school before they graduate 3) It is become more and more difficult to find a competent graduated architects. Close scrutiny of each of the facts, however, reveals that none of them lend credible support to the recommendation.
First of all, several retired architects interviewed can not necessarily represent the situation today. Firstly, perhaps the most part of architects are not interviewed who have got college degree and their opinions are not showed. Secondly the several architects interviewed are retired people, maybe some history reasons make them have not graduated such as poverty and their families can not support their study, so they had to serve the experienced architects at early age .But the situation changes a lot today and most of people have the ability to afford the required tuition .Yet the memo contains no evidence to support this assumption
Even if the retired architects' situation can represent the problems in nowadays, the recruit from the several of the colleges can not indicates that all the architecture colleges are in face of the problem that students will leave college early in their undergraduate career. Perhaps only students in these colleges want to give up their study and join in the practical work. The most students in other colleges were not polled. Without provide more evidence of the entire situation among architecture students the author can not convince me to accept his recommendation
What is more, the author's reason why starts a program to recruit students who have an interest and just graduate from high school is that it is more and more difficult to find talented architecture graduates. Maybe the facts is that the market don't need so much architects so that they change their job into other field, or the information between firms' needs and the number of graduate students is mistakenly transmitted. Without ruling out other possible reasons for the difficulty of finding architecture graduates the suggestion is somehow doubtful
Finally, even the firm establishes the program there is not a promise that all the students who have an interest in architects will attend to. Although they are keen on architecture it is not surly that they will go to architecture college and pursue it as a job in their future maybe they just want to hold on it as an interest
In sum, the recommendation relies on certain doubtful evidence that render it unconvincing as it stands. To bolster the recommendation the author must provide clear evidence that the most architects in nowadays are getting out of school and more survey must be done to show the  overall colleges' situation and make sure that all the students who express interest in architecture will take part in the program

娓娓修改

The author claims that an aggressive program should be started to recruit the students who show an interest in architecture as soon as they graduate from high school. To support his recommendation he cites the following evidence: 1) only one of the architects interviewed today had earned a college degree in architecture and the most had gone through a period as a servant(这里是学徒的意思,不应该用这个词吧) of an experienced architects.2)a report from several colleges shows that many students leave school before they graduate (意思没有表达完整,而且是promising architecture students3) It is become more and more difficult to find a competent graduated architects.(我觉得这一点不是原因了,二是12得出的结论,实际就是为什么采取start an aggressive apprenticeship program and hire students who express an interest in architecture directly out of high school措施的原因。 Close scrutiny of each of the facts, however, reveals that none of them lend credible support to the recommendation.
