The study of history has value only to the extent that it is relevant to our daily lives.

The speaker's assertion is too superficial to link the study of history's value only to our practical lives. In fact, its value extends to the impractical world, which is indispensable to human race.

In the first place, study of great people in history helps us cultivate good personalities which are absolutely not pragmatic. For instance, by learning about the expedition of Lewis and Clark in the West, we know the value of persistence and eager to explore. Similarly, it is through Washington's story of cherry that teaches us the virtue of honesty. Additionally, Knowing Einstein's life history, we can conclude that how important original thinking is in scientific pursuit. In one word, illustrated by these personal characteristics listed above, we can dare to say that history of great people gives us idols to follow, to imitate, to learn and to improve ourselves in daily life.

In the second place, study of history can remind us mistakes made by our ancestors, which gives us alarm not to fall into the same pit again. It is enough to mention the Holocaust of Jewish people in the World War Two. In this tragedy, millions of Jews were killed by Nazis. It shows us that we human beings can be too cruel to kill our congeners even in systematic effort, and this worst human disaster must not happen again. While, by knowing this, it can not earn a penny for you, but tell you that lessons in human history should not be forgotten.

Last but not least, it is history that gives us clear self identities. Only by studying history can tell us answers of self defining. Philosophically speaking, it is the past that defines us today. Who we are? Where we are coming from? Which group we belong to? Answers are embedded in our history. But if we don’t study it, we will never get them. As a result, it is recognition of history's importance that leads modern countries to teach their citizens their particular histories from primary school to college and one hand, and support scholars and graduates to study them at another.

In sum, study of history have priceless values that far beyond practical consideration. At least, it can cultivate our personalities, teach us lessons and give us self identifications. None of these benefits are dispensable.

恩，赞同猫头的观点
整体的结构看上去非常清晰，就是 有的地方论证的不够。

我觉得在限时的时候有一点非常重要的就是一定大概的把整体的逻辑结构列出来了之后就按部就班的写，不去试图表达很深刻的东西，就把心里想到的一般能接受的推理论证过程写出来就可以了。

Bridge的逻辑思维能力很强的，对自己狂自信吧:p
