I concede with the assertion that mistakes can contribute to our discovery and progress.However,the speaker unnecessarily overstate the function of mistakes. In fact, many factors must be considerd when we struggled our way to progress. Insofar as I can think,mistakes is important to our discovery or progress while other factors also play an important role in such a progress.

Obviously,　realizing and undergoing the mistakes can correct our behaviors and reveal our shortcomings, As an old saying goes:Failure is the mother of success.We must confess admit that on the way we growing up,it is the mistakes which correct our behaviors and help us to progress step by step.I see many infants fail and try again before they know how to walk.No baby could make their first step without making hundreds of mistakes.When it comes to adult, they still have to make a progress with consistent effort and may make many mistakes.Take R.Reagon as an illustration,who is regarded as one of the best communicators in American history,experienced a embarrassment in his first speech.Without mistakes,we may hardly find the false and shortcomings of us and it really play an important role in our way to improvement.
However,when we keep our attention on the positive factors of mistakes,the payment of the mistake can't be neglected.Before the discovery and progress,we may squander too much time and  too much money.What's more, they may cause seriously result.Let us look back to the space shuttle of Columbia,which is a tragedy. The death of seven astronauts might be restrained by an earlier improvement of anti-heat system.Such mistakes cost too much.In fact ,although we must have take courage when confronting with the mistakes,the cost must be reduced to the lowest level.Moreover,to reduce our resources,we needn't to try to gain progression through mistakes only,many experience could be used to curtail our time and money.For example,we can give out some of work such as calculating to the computer and we don't need to try to find any mistakes on it to improve it.
What's more,too much emphasis on the failure will lead to the misunderstanding that false will result in the success ultimately. Sometimes it is not only the attitude to determine the result,the lack of experimental condition,the restrain of mind and the common sense will also cause failure.For example,No matter how many times of attempts we try to build a machine that can run forever with providing of any other energy will only squander time and waste money.The failure is certainty no matter how many times of mistakes we made and how much effort we paid.
In summary,Mistakes is not the block in the way to progress,with the mistakes we can find our flows and change them to our adventages.But we must take other important factors to progress also.If we consider those factors above,we will finally make a discovery and progress on our way.
