题目:The human mid will always be superior to machins because machines are only tools of human minds
-------------
Is human mind more superior to machines, because machines are only tools of human mind? In my opinion, the statement is mostly correct, however a deeper understanding of it depends on our understanding of "superiority".
From the socialist point of view, it is true that human minds are superior to machines and other tools. Invented by human beings, machines such as cars and planes are monitored and manipulated by human minds. Their maintenance, improvement, and any other aspects of destiny is dependent on human wills. They could be discarded and replaced without rebellion if one day human would decide that they are no longer suitable. Cattle and other animals are inferior to human minds as well, due to their social roles as tools serving for human beings. Thus anything serving for the right of human is regarded as tools or machines, therefore it is inferior to human minds.
Admittedly, some of the machines are superior to human minds if we understand it from another point of view. Comparing computer with human minds, the super computer is superior to human minds in terms of capacity, duration and speed. Brains cannot store as much as one tenth of a super computer does, though some doctors argue that the full potential of human brain has not been fully explored. In contrast to the frequent mistakes human brains make in calculation, computers are almost never subject to such criticism. Considering the working speed of both computer and brain, it is clear that computers can solve equations far faster than brains. Yet computer needs to be upgraded from time to time, and they cannot learn by themselves, so they are inferior to human minds in terms of intelligence. And the most compelling argument is that computers are invented by human minds, and any upgrade of it reflects the splendid of human minds, for the better understand of nature and science.
Therefore we cannot draw the conclusion without the thoroughly understand the definition of "superiority". If we say that superiority is the relationship between the server and the host being served, from the socialistic and ethic point of view, it is obvious that human minds are superior to machines as tools. However if we say that superiority means better ability in performance in a certain aspect, then we have to admit that some of the machines, although they are tools, are far superior to human minds.
Although human have invented thousands of machines, which make the world a better and more comfortable place to live in, we should still realize the fact that human minds are not the perfect ones, even though we are sitting on the top of the pyramid composed of all creatures on Earth. Subjective to the intrinsic flaws of the brain, human should not be complaisant or self-conceited. Otherwise it would be man who brings himself to dire mire.
In the final analysis, due to the complexity of the issue, we are unable to straightly agree or disagree with the speaker's statement, given that no one's understanding of "superiority" is equal. Human minds are superior to machines as tools on one hand, while machines are sometimes superior to human minds in terms of their outstanding performance on the other hand. |
