------题目------
Most people would agree that buildings represent a valuable record of any society's past, but controversy arises when old buildings stand on ground that modern planners feel could be better used for modern purposes. In such situations, modern development should be given precedence over the preservation of historic buildings so that contemporary needs can be served.
关于古建筑的,基本观点是disagree。
------正文------
With the ever-increasing pace of life, modern people are so urgent to see fast development in short term, even sometimes at the cost of anything. However, one fact can never be ignored that if a historic building were pulled down, it would never come into being any longer, while we can wait awhile for a better and healthier development. In this sense, I do not with the author's argument that preservation of historic buildings pales in the importance of modern development in some situations.

Although in any society, development should be given priority over other things in most situations, especially when it comes to developing countries. It is reasonable because only when a country enjoys highly developed economy can she be competitive in international affairs and can her people enjoy overall welfare of the country. Confronting with war or rebellion, we always emphasize the importance of peace and development should be put the most important place. No one can deny that development has been a trend dominating modern world.

However, modern development can not be achieved at the cost of anything, especially environment and historic culture. Here we mainly concern with the preservation of historic buildings. They are not just buildings that can accommodate people, they serves as mirrors of the times they were built, as manifestations of that time’s culture and value. From a historic building, we can learn a lot from it: how did people live at that time? What kind of material did they often use to build a house? What did those different colors on the top of the building represent? (For example, in ancient china, only the most noble people can paint golden color on the top of their house.) And what were the meanings of those paintings on the pillar. Furthermore, we can also get to know art and social moral at that time. Therefore, if a old building were replaced, we would not only lost a single house, we lost a piece of memory about the history. And once it were lost, it would never be found back again.

Another reason is, the author only emphasizes that the ground where the old building stands is valuable, rather he or she ignores the value of old building itself may bring about  for the city. Namely, the building can not only be preserved but can be used as an attraction for tourism. Very likely, the art value of the building will attract many artists worldwide to  the city, firstly to visit the old building, and then tour around the city. With more and more people come to the city and with proper advertisement, the city may be known as a famous place of interests. Actually, there are many cities in the world are made know for just an old building or temple. Even if the ground is expensive and a city can earn a lot of money by building a new skyscraper there, the profit made is once and short-term. Yet, if the building can be preserved and used for visit, it is once but for ever and long-term profit.

In the main analysis, the author makes a very hasty conclusion that the old building should be replaced for a new one just because development seems so important nowadays. However, he or she ignores that potential value the old building may possess. No matter how, the old buildings should be preserved. Who knows, one day, the clever modern men may make best use of them and enhance the development of the city.

总的来说不错

Most people would agree that buildings represent a valuable record of any society's past, but controversy arises when old buildings stand on ground that modern planners feel could be better used for modern purposes. In such situations, modern development should be given precedence over the preservation of historic buildings so that contemporary needs can be served.

[开头有自己的分析,观点提出明确。]

Although in any society, development should be given priority over other things in most situations, especially when it comes to developing countries. It is reasonable because only when a country enjoys highly developed economy can she be competitive in international affairs and can her people enjoy overall welfare of the country. [这句话写得不错。] Confronting with war or rebellion, we always emphasize the importance of peace and development should be put [into] the most important place. No one can deny that development has been a trend dominating modern world.

However, modern development cannot be achieved at the cost of anything, especially environment and historic culture. Here we mainly concern with the preservation of historic buildings. They are not just buildings that can accommodate people, they serves as mirrors of the times they were built, as manifestations of that time’s culture and value. [the culture and values at that time.] From a historic building, we can learn a lot from it [与句首的From重复了,去掉。]: how did people live at that time? What kind of material did they often use to build a house? What did those different colors on the top of the building represent? (For example, in ancient china, only the most noble [noblest] people can paint golden color on the top of their house.) And what were the meanings of those paintings on the pillar. Furthermore, we can also get to know art and social moral at that time. [这里最后对于你提出的问题拿出一、两个进行回答,以真正显示“学到”了什么。] Therefore, if an old building were replaced, we would not only lost a single house, we lost a piece of memory about the history. And once it were lost, it would never be found back again.

Another reason is, the author only emphasizes that the ground where the old building stands is valuable, rather he or she ignores the value of old building itself may bring about for [to] the city. Namely, the building cannot only be preserved but can be used as an attraction for tourism. Yet, if the building can be preserved and used for visit, it is once but forever and long-term profit. [分析地不错;不过不妨举一个具体点的例子来说明。]

In the main analysis, the author makes a very hasty conclusion [觉得最好不要出现argument里常用的东西。] that the old building should be replaced for a new one just because development seems so important nowadays. However, he or she ignores that potential value the old building may possess. No matter how, the old buildings should be preserved. Who knows, one day, the clever modern men may make best use of them and enhance the development of the city.
