Most people choose a career on the basis of such pragmatic considerations as the needs of the economy, the relative ease of finding a job, and the salary they can expect to make. Hardly anyone is free to choose a career based on his or her natural talents or interest in a particular kind of work.

It is true that sufficient money is very significant for the welfare of a person; it is also true that nowadays more and more people are apt to choose their career with the concern of decent salary, the needs of the economy and so forth. Nevertheless, I can hardly agree with the statement that today nearly nobody could choose a career based on his or her natural talents or interest in a particular kind of work.

First of all, we have to admit that in today's society, the economic and finance factors are becoming the chief consideration of people to select their career. After all, adequate finance is not merely important for our well being, but even quite essential for our life and survival. Without sufficient money, we cannot support our children to receive the superior education, we cannot get the most advanced medical treatment when we are ill, and sometimes we might even not be able to buy necessary living stuffs in our daily life. So the vital role of money in our life is pretty obvious and thus it is quite understandable why so many people make the salary standard the most priority when they are deciding their career.

Yet, even if I concede the importance of money in people's life, I cannot accept the notion that it is the most significant or even the only factor to determine a person's career. Instead, in my opinion, the really most essential factors to decide a person's career are his or her natural talents or interests and what may be more important his or her dream and ideal. To comprehend this notion, we need look no further than the case of our great scientist Einstein. If looking from the perspective of salary and economy, I guess nobody would think that Physical science is a profitable field or career. However, also nobody could deny the significance of Physical science in the progress and developing of the whole world and society. Accordingly Einstein just made the welfare of all the people and his own talent and ideal in science his prior consideration when he decided to choose Physics to be his lifelong career. And at that time maybe the economic factors were totally out of his concern.

Another example comes into my mind to support my fundamental agreement with the statement given in the last paragraph is the endangered-animals conservationist.  It is very common for us to read reports in TV programmers or newspapers that many conservationist choose to live in the wilderness areas to investigate the life behavior of endangered animals and try their best and ever efforts to help and save the life and habitats of these precious animals. Considering the fact that almost all of these conservationist are experts and authorities in their own fields and all of them could choose to work in the comfortable office everyday rather than live in the dangerous wilderness areas, it would be rather ridiculous to think that the conservationist are taking the economic factors their prior consideration.

Therefore, taking into account of all these factors, even I concede that money is indeed very important in our life, I could not agree with the statement that money are the most significant factor to determine a person’s career. Instead the ideal and faith is really the most essential ones.
