小改了一下。在WORD里。
我的I 38:
In the era of rapid social and technological change leading to life complexity, the television plays a more and more important role in the people’s life. However, in my opinion, in the age of the television, reading books is as important as it once was no matter how much we can learn from the television.
Admittedly, the television, as one of the most flamboyant invention with highly convenient among the various scientific achievements, exceedingly improves the efficiency of the communication and transmitting of the information and knowledge. Nowadays, watching TV has become a important part of people’s lives, as a main media, which is a great source of political, economic, social, and cultural information for the citizens in many countries. Also it raises our consciousness by bringing to us the latest news and discoveries and extends our horizon by such documentary programs as “National Geographic” and “Discovery”, whose contents are probably otherwise unapproachable in our entire lifetime. With the content it provides only, we enlarge our scope of knowledge and obtain much useful information.
Nevertheless, books as an old way of acquiring information and knowledge still hold strong life force. For such a huge knowledge pool accumulated over centuries, TV could only show a small part of it while the book does the whole such as the classics. By reading, people have the time to think over again a lot of details. Besides, people can read anytime, anywhere, since the books are easy to carry and need no power supply, which make to adaptable to different condition while television is different. You have to have TV, electricity and in some remote poor areas villagers have no such facilities.
Again, we learn some knowledge by reading books which can not be acquired by watching TV. In reading, we become creators, imaging the setting of the story, seeing the facial expressions, and hearing the inflection of the voices. There are one thousand of Hamlets in the eyes of one thousand of readers; television prevents us from thinking deeply into what we watch because of the fixed imagines and sound however, books provide the reader a blank paper on which the reader can depict anything as he or she likes. Reading arouses actively thinking profoundly about so important problems such as the significance of life, the public potential hazards, the past and the future, etc, which are unable to achieve by watching TV. Books, carrying the utmost importance in the inheritance and dissemination of knowledge for all human kind, edify our intelligence and broaden our horizon of the history.
Because of the different advantages of providing knowledge and information, in any time, the books and the television play different role in our lives, especially in the high-tech era. We should absorb what we need not only from the books but also from the modern multimedia such as the TV.
In conclusion, although the books are challenged by modern media including television, Internet, reading books is still as the efficiency, credible way of obtaining as the television. |
