I concede that we usually observe one thing(不如用things自然!) with our expectations or desires. But the claim that there is no such thing as purely objective observation and all observation is subjective is somewhat extreme.
In my view, unquestionably(in my view 和 unquestionably二者留其一足矣!), we can obtain the objective observation. For one thing, the nature of one thing, for example, how long, how tall, how much weight,(改成such as its length, hight, and weight ) could not be changed by the purposes of observers, (.)It could not be guided by the expectations or desires of us. A 3-metre tree could not be 100 hundred metres(加一个just 或merely) because an observer consider it very high or be 30 centimetres as another one(多余!) think it is short. Different observations reflect only different aspects of the things, but the nature is unchangeable(这句话离题!). For the other thing, if all the observation is subjective, how can we get the right cognition of earth(地球要用“the earth”,不过这里最好用“the world”) we are living on, how can we get the correct datum about earth and how can we invent the satellites flying around earth and send back valuable information? Without the objective observation, we could(用would!) be not what we are. If there is no such thing as purely objective observation, we will run into a confusion for there is no thing we can believe in and no standard we can depend on.(最后这句话不错!)
Furthermore, people are able to get a unified objective observation. To one thing, they just have different subjective perceptions. For example, when we see a red cloth, we all know its color is red execpt some color-blind people. It means that from the observation, we can all come into a same conclusion, which illustrates that the color is in a specific range of wavelength in the spectrum. However, different people will have different feelings of this red color. Maybe one will feel too light while some other will see it as too dim. Not the subjective observations, but the individual perceptions leads to the different results of obervation. Additionally, people may reach a one-sided conclusion by a wrong observation as we have the limitied capabilities. But the partial observation is also the reflection of the objective substance.
Consequently, when we describe our observational results, we should try our best to characterize the things in an objective point of view. In order to avoid the mistakes in observation, we use the apparatus to cut down the errors. In chemic experiment, we observe the chemical phenomenons by various apparatus. And the apparatus give us the impersonal results by the automatic measuration for they do not have expectations or desires.
In a word, although we may have some personal opinions on one thing, we can undoubtly(这个词太绝对) recognize the nature of it. Just for as much as the objective observation to the environment around us as well as ourselves, we can make so great progress. |
