I partly agree with the speaker's contention that people could now become familiar with lots of places that they have never visited before with the help of the connections of television and computer. However, the tourism will not become obsolete, on the contrary, the television and computer actually boosts the tourism. In addition, in the modern life, the tour has become requisite for many citizens.

Admittedly, with the development of the television and worldwide computer connections, more and more information about the great places is available, that people could just stay at home and watch the television or surf the Internet to enjoy most of the beautiful landscape through the screen. The modern technology dramatically saves our time and offers us a numerous wonderful pictures and videos of these views that we have never been before or we no longer have the opportunity to visit. Just like the Antarctic and the Arctic, they are both the places that most people would not been for a life time, and the television and computer offer them the precious chance to enjoy the miraculous view.

However, the great function of television and computer widely used among people does not mean that the tourism will become obsolete. On the contrary, it is just the television and the worldwide computer connections that make more people desire traveling to these great places. Even we could see lots of pictures and videos of the beautiful views through television and computer, we still could not feel, touch, smell and hear in the right environment, which are all the basic requirements if one wants to really enjoy the natural scenery. There goes a Chinese old saying (and I paraphrase): If you are not in the mountain, you will not know how high it is; if you are not in the sea, you will not know how deep it is. In other words, the television and computer in fact plays a role of advertising for these great places.

Additionally, in modern society, the tourism has become requisite for most of the citizens. With the modernization of the society, more and more people live in the modern city, leading a life with lots of work and few chances of walking into the nature. Every corner in the cities is filled with automobiles, modern buildings and crowds, and even at home people could only face the television and computer which could not make them really relax in the busy world. Therefore, only when people are really walking into the nature, could they find the original joyances and get sufficient ease.

To sum up, the television and computer offers us the opportunity to be familiar with the great places that we have never been and the miraculous nature we would never see. However, the tourism would not become obsolete due to human being's original demand.
