History has passed, but what did it leave to us who are living in this modern time? Instead of little guidance as some people have claimed, it actually helps us a lot to solve problems and face the life.

In this modern time, there are definitely many complicated and new things which fill our life and create many problems. When we look back to ask the history, we may find so many differences that few of them can help us to solve the present problems. Environment which has been contaminated seriously, traffic jam brings many accidents, indifferent relationship among people and the busy but exhausted work. All these need to be settled by new methods and new ideas, no answer can be found in the past because different ages have different problems. Then people will ask that if there is no use of the history, why would we study and devote so much time and money to it, why cannot we spend this money solving new problems and creating a better life in future?
The answer is that history is not an object which can bring direct profit to our life but a valuable one to sustain human's existence and provide reference to us. To conclude, history is the teacher to teach the method but not the tool to make profit.

It should not be neglected because the successful past can encourage us to improve ourselves and bravely face the challenge. A lot successful stories establish good examples for us to follow, which testify us that no matter how difficult it is to reach the goal or what situation you are facing, there will be a way to solve them. During the period of the Great Recession, American has experienced the toughest situation in its history. Banks bankrupted, employees lost their job, and the whole economy involved in a dark surrounding. It is the New Deal brings the light. President Rossevelt enacted the new policy to save his country and his people, which have proved so successful. When facing the present economic situation, we should also be confident that we will pass the trouble sooner or later and can usher more bright future. Our predecessor can do it, why we cannot?

Then democracy is ultimately demonstrated to be suitable and acceptable by people, the real dominant of a nation. What’s more, one of the most crucial wars, the World War Two, has nearly ruined the whole world. Huge loss of people's life, money are shocked everyone who heard about it. A war brought nothing but disaster to the world, a war created nothing but tragedy to human life and a war left nothing but a warn to each of us. History is reminding and warning us that such tragedies can be avoided by strive together and then human can develop in a healthy way.

In sum, history is the foundation of human development which can neither be belittled nor be neglected. 放了两个例子，但是例子的阐释有些泛泛，宁可把一个说透，显示出整个完整的逻辑链，比如人们怎样如何在历史进程中了解到民主的重要性（也只是在某些国家），或者战争对人类有极大损害，我们可以从以前的战争学习到更先进更安全的作战方法，避免无谓的伤亡，更加文明。还有更科学的后勤医疗服务等等。
主要问题还是两个例子太大太宽泛，难以好好说透，也难以用二元论来归类说民主好战争不好，因为民主在某些国家行不通，和国民性文化性都有关；战争也关乎人性本身，无可避免。
