In the period of highly spreading globalization, the author claims that we should build a global university to solve the most difficult problems in the world today. However, in my perspectives, even though calling on elites together to deal with difficulties is good idea, fullfilment of it is a new problem.
We can not deny the fact that when elites get together, its power is fabulous for the reason that different kinds of thought meet, fuse and then get a more considerable answer or action. It is well known that Einstein himself alone find the Theory of Relativity but it is the whole missile group which invent the first citybuster worldwide that has changed the routine of the Second War and saved hundreds and thousands of innosant people in America, Asia and Europe. So if the world's most brilliant scientists work together heart and soul, who knows how perfect and harmonious the world will be in a few years.
However, the first problem appears when it comes to the question that what is the most persistent social problems in the world. In fact, every country has its own tough problems. Therefore, when the world’s elites get together to build the global university, which country does the university work for? Strongest one or weakest one? We have to admitt that there’re not a balance in the development of enconomy, legal system, education in various countries and this phenomena leads to a more obvious and fierce contradiction, that is, rich country becomes richer while poor country becomes poorer. The biggest problem for a developing country might be a piece of cake in developed country’s eyes. We have to make it clear whether the goal of the university is to research and develop the cutting-edged science for upper class or drag the poor in Africa out of hunger. At such time, the criteria for the global university to choose its task is set to the first place.
The second problem is that as the global university which is huge and eminent would definitely cost much, which country or department would pay for it. Even though the UN has enough money to complete this magnificent blueprint, we can’t forget there are numerous infants and children in Africa waiting for resuring. Therefore, this global university must setup its own finacial department which makes regulations about how to bring in funds and what’s the benefit donators will receive.
At the mean time, as the saying goes that science has no boundaries, but scientists have motherland. When a scientist is making contribution to the whole world, how could he ignore his compatriots living a live behind modern civilization? How to make elliets work together is a big problem, either.
In conclusion, even though building a global university is a creative and bright idea, the world seems not ready. Only when considerating its basic goal, resource of finance and specialists thoroghly, can we make the plan more feasible and the world more harmonious.
