TOPIC: ISSUE48 - "The study of history places too much emphasis on individuals. The most significant events and trends in history were made possible not by the famous few, but by groups of people whose identities have long been forgotten."

At first the speaker claims
the idea that we pay so much attention on the individuals when it comes to the history issues and ignore the hard working of other people behind the man who is famous. We should respect everyone who
work for the progress, but we can not praise all the people involved in the history, as discussed below.


As an old saying goes ,every successful man have a woman standing behind him to push him a hand .No one can achieve their goal without other's help .We should remember the thing they do and history should award these groups of people .For example, the revolution to build a new China before 1949 is fundamentally because of the instruction of Chairman Mao ,but he can not achieve his goal without the people on his side. But it is too hard to let the civilians know all the name of the groups of people join in the revolution, so instead of report all the names on the newspaper, government take some actions to reward these people :set up some monument representing all the heroes who help the leader win great succeed.


Then, I would like to claim my opinion that, although these people do tremendous sacrifice during the history event, they can not success without the famous few. These great people are born
leaders, or they have hard time training themselves to be leaders. For example ,Le Corbusier is the greatest architect he create a new type for architecture .His theory that represent in his book that he think buildings are just like industrial materials that can be produced on the assembly line .That idea then becomes reality by the workers and the boss of architecture companies, but in fact ,without the famous architects idea ,they cannot make such progress.


Further more, that phenomenon is caused by the media and the citizen who are interested in other people's lives .The magazines and TV programs always report the famous peoples lives ,that makes the audiences more curious about the gossips and scandals of the former president or the famous dancer. Watching that kind of show is just like watching opera shows ,you may probably guess the end at first, but you just cannot stop to watch the lives far more different with ours .It is the same reason that why we pay more attention on the famous few when comes to historical events ,no one want to read a history
about his or her neighbors or about all his or her classmate.


To sum up ,I partly agree with the idea that the speaker offers. We should not forget groups of individuals working hard behind the history ,but we can not put them in the same place as the famous few for their greatness and for the media .We can do some other things to remember these ones, give them more opportunity to join in other exhibition of this history .or made them some monument.
