Issue 150"Because of television and worldwide computer connections, people can now become familiar with a great many places that they have never visited. As a result, tourism will soon become obsolete."
正文
According to the speaker, tourism will no longer be in use for the reason that though the worldwide connections made by television and computer, people can become familiar with a great many places that they have never visited. Although I agree that the worldwide connections provide an objective and accurate record of the places which are worth to visit, there is far more to become familiar with them than what we see and hear by ourselves. Thus the speaker overstates the comparative significance of the connections such as television and computer.
For the purpose of connecting widely, I agree that television and computer have brought us a lot of convenience and helped us to learn more broadly and more quickly than ever before. For most of us, it is impossible to visit everywhere that is attractive to us. In this respect, television and computer provides a singular broad vision though which we could acquaint to something interesting. Even sometimes, it is the information the television provides such as some advertisement guide us to the wonderland which we did not know before. Therefore, the connection, indeed, promote to broaden our eyes and improve the interplay between different nations.
Nonetheless, for certain other purposes tourism could not be instead by the information which television and computer provides. Tourism is fun and is a fantastic combination of many other objects. By touring a place you have never been, it is able to develop an understanding of both the culture and tradition. This is human nature that everyone born with curiosity which lead him to explore the unknown world. If we cast a back look at the history of the world, it is possible to identify an evolution of tourism. What’s more, as the rapid pace of today’s life, we all need to get away from our routines and surroundings from time to time. Without tourism, we could know nothing about the outside besides the television told, and thus we may lose our own recognition of the objective world.
In addition, even tourism itself is a business which may of great importance to some district or a nation. For example, a nation’s geography position has decided its type of development which is suitable for tourism. Thus, it is unfairly to ignore the economic factor which may lead to great damage to financial incomes.
To sum up, the speaker’s assertion overstates the importance of the worldwide connections which television and computer made, at least to some extent. In the final analysis, when it comes to the acquaintance of someplace that is not easy for us to visit, the information is more convenient and swiftly. However, what we view through a camera lens or a screen provides only one dimension of the places which are worth to visit. Thus, tourism will always be needed to quantify, demystify, and provide meaning to the world around us.
