Recent decades, the number of high school graduates who is willing to enter the university or college increases dramatically, it brings our society more human resource that have received advanced education, however, at the mean time, it also caused some negative effect such as the decline of university education quality. As a result, we may reflect about what is the main reason behind the “fashion” of entering university? From my point of view, the reasons can be mainly divided into several aspects below.

Firstly, I think is also the most important one, is the fierce competition urges the students chasing for a higher diploma, which added his or her competition ability in the job market. In many countries, especially some country whose population is rather high, diploma is still the major criteria for the employer to select faculties. Just imagine, when you are the decision-maker of employment, how can you distinguish the most outstanding one from thousands of resumes? The education background seems the most practical and efficient yardstick to evaluate the application’s learning ability. Admittedly, there are a great number of people who has the ability but is lack of diploma, but the absolute fair is always out of touch.

Secondly, we can never deny the kind of students who pursue the pure knowledge from the university or college study. It is a fact that in many nations, after you have graduated from high school, your mind is already equipped with enough basic knowledge which can guarantee you may cope with the basic work for your future career. However, had most of the students satisfied at this level, our world will never make so many amazing improvements, it is the group of person who keeps curiosity toward the subjects and are willing to devote the time to learn the knowledge in depth entering the university and lab, and eventually make contribution to his nation even all the human beings. We firmly encourage such kind of people entering college; they are the blessing of our planet.

Last but not the least, another reason behind such phenomenon is the students’ unwillingness to face the real world. As we known, most students have received at least 10 years education in the classroom, even if the students have taken part in many social activities, in most of times, they are always sheltered under the parents’ and teacher’s arms. When they reach the age to enter the complicated society, it is human nature that there is a kind of anxiety. The most direct solution emerging in their mind is to continue their school life, as a result, find a university or college seems the best choice. Unfortunately, such kind of students always wastes their time and their nation’s resources.

After all, I believe that the reasons responsible for more students are entering the college students mainly lie in 3 aspects: the fierce competition; the pursuing for knowledge; and the students’ avoiding towards the practical life. In fact, there is no good or bad of whether entering the university, the most important is whether it suits you.
