should governments spend more money in sponsoring arts than athletics



  With the dramatic development of science and improvement of society, people's demand is changing. We no longer only focus on eating and housing, but have an increasing demand of culture and sports. Therefore the following problem is brought up, should governments spend more money in sponsoring arts or athletics? As far as I'm concerned, I agree with spending more on athletics. Here are some of my reasons.
  First, athletics can benefit the vast majority of the public. No matter senior citizens or the youths, well educated or less educated people, almost everyone needs sports to build his body.However now, pubilc sports places are so few that many citizens don't have the chance to exercise. The rich may pay to join the gym while other people can't afford it. The governments should construct more stadiums with advanced sports equipments and offer professional sports instructions for the public. This will soon change the situation. Also with better health,the citizens will save the money used to pay for medicines and treaments. We can count on an healthy mordern society, isn't it great?
  Second, athletics investment will bring the governments economic benefits. Chinese host the 29th Olympic Games last year, it cost a lot of resources. But we can see what the country got in return. Beijing became famous in the world more than ever. People from other countries come to visit,which sitimulates the tourism.Big companies invest in China to build factories. Many cities renewed with amazing efficiency and now they show up with a brand new look. The economic benefits from athletics are far-reaching.
  On the other hand, if the money spend on arts,it may not result very well since the acception of arts is limitated by both knowledge and economy level. As the saying goes, arts come from life but are higher than life. Arts are of course as important as athletics but they can be played and enjoyed only by a few.
  In conclusion, athletics can benefit the majority of the public, stimulate the economy.The governments should spend more money on it rather than on arts.
