There is no doubt that university experience is of great importance in one's life, because higher education will provide people not only knowledge prepared for their career, but also the opportunities to approach new things and to understand the world better. As far as I am concerned, with these functions of university, students should be required to take basic science classes even though it seems not part of the field of the study.

Firstly, as a human being lived in this hi-tech modern world, lacking the basic science knowledge is terrible or even dangerous. Put the case that one did not know the basic electric knowledge, he/she will get an electric shock or even worse result if there is something wrong with the circuits in his/her house. It is very dangerous bacause he/she did not know how to protect himselves/herslves. As I know,many students will work independently when leaving university, maybe far away from home, so these kind of basic science knowledge can be a great help in his/her future life to manage the little thing around him/her.

Secondly, basic science classes provide us a different way to access our own subject. Like a famous communication scholar, who used the basic method in Math to create a model in measure the communication process, and using this way, he put forward the communication study a big step. From this example, we can see that different subjects can be interconnected in someway, so, study some science classes may give us sparks in our own field, also in a larger scene, may contribute to our interdisciplinary study.

Thirdly, with the basic science classes, students get chances to meet new things. I mean, like me, as an art student, I merely have opportunities to do experiments or to talk about science topics with others. When taking science classes, I can do experiments with others as well as exchange latest science news with my classmates; it is interesting and also helps me to relax. Moreover, I can make friends in these classes. So, as to me, taking science classes really enrich my university life.

Knowledge is power, when taking science classes at a university, we can get basic science knowledge which is useful in our life; find new approach in our own subject, enhance our ability to communication with others and even make a good friend. All of those are due to the basic science classes taken at university.
