TOPIC: ARGUMENT242 - The following appeared as an editorial in the student newspaper of Groveton College.
"To combat the recently reported dramatic rise in cheating among college and university students, these institutions should adopt honor codes similar to Groveton's, which calls for students to agree not to cheat in their academic endeavors and to notify a faculty member if they suspect that others have cheated. Groveton's honor code replaced an old-fashioned system in which students were closely monitored by teachers and an average of thirty cases of cheating per year were reported. The honor code has proven far more successful: in the first year it was in place, students reported twenty-one cases of cheating; five years later, this figure had dropped to fourteen. Moreover, in a recent survey conducted by the Groveton honor council, a majority of students said that they would be less likely to cheat with an honor code in place than without."

In this editorial, the speaker asserts that colleges and universities should adopt honor codes which are similar to Groveton's to combat the considerable increase cheating. And, there can also other factors that can contribute to the diminished number if students in cheating, such as the whole knowledge level of the students enhances, the tests are easier than before, even because of many students are not willing to notify the students who have cheated to the faculty members. Without taking these respects into consideration, the speaker’s assumption that the decreasing number of cheating is due to honor codes.

The last but not the least, the speaker makes a hasty conclusion of the significant of honor codes simply based on a recent conducted survey. After all, the students who cheat in examination are occupied a small part, it is of course of no doubt that a majority number of students’ claim that they would not like to cheat. Even as the speaker's assumption, a majority of the students would be less likely to cheat with a honor codes, it is of great possibility that they just want to express that they do not want to cheat.

To sum up, the speaker's conclusion that colleges and universities should adopt honor codes is too hasty. To make it more appealing and justifiable, the speaker should take several other terms, say, other causes of the decreasing number students in cheating, the function of the honor codes assumed in the decrease, and, the students response in the survey, into consideration.

第一段的表示不作弊不代表真的不作弊可以放在调查结果后面，就是说首先我质疑你的调查，说大部分人都表示不会作弊了不一定正确，然后递进表示，就算大部分人表示不再作弊了，你也不能保证他们真正的会落实到行动中，这样文章思路是不是连贯点
