I strongly agree with the adivce that students should bring a certain skepticism to whatever they study. The key point is to teach the students knowledge and also how to learn by themselves. It is very neccessily for the students to question what they are taught not only accept it passively.



Nowadays the society develops very fast and we need new human resources to keep in pace with it. It is the students task to build our country. But if the students just accept the knowledge taught by teacher in class, how can we make change in the research and create new technology to replace the old or useless technology? The society need new idea and fresh blood. For instance, in the field of information technology, the standard of programming language, such as java,often need  update. And the version of the standard of Java have started from the 1.0 to 6.0. And also in other field, we can easily find some same cases. The society need change to meet the new need of human being and human being can create new tools by their creating brain.

Confucius, the earlist educator in Chinese history, once said that believe everything in books is worse than to have no books at all. If the students believe everything in books, they will lose the ability to create and think. When the students are taught something new, they should explore why they are right and just remember the conclusion. It is easy for them to forget the new taught knowledge if they can only recite the conclusion. If the students gain the origin of the conclusion, there is no need for them to remember the verdict, since they can deduce by themselves.



Accepting knowleage passively is not feasible not only because that it would be hard for students to learn knowledge but also because this kind of study will cause other consequences. Spoon-feeding the students does not help them to digest what them have been taught. Besides, the students are not going to be students forever.They must go outside to adapt to the society life. They may act as a actor, a engineer, a teacher and even the president. There will be a lot of situations that they need make decisions and there maybe is no reference case and they must make decisions by themselves.  And these

students will not be competent for the positions like a manager, a leader and so on.



In sum, the students should not only learn knowledge but also gain the ability to question what they have learnt. We need to create an atomsphere in which skepticism is encouraged. Critical thinking  is an indispensable part of our education.
