In any profession, that those in power should step down after several years is a proper mechanism to bring new fresh air and leads to virtuous circle. However, we should also realize those old leadership have their own value. To make success, the flexible mechanism should be adopted which means under the guidance of effective leaders no matter new or old, with the cooperation among their workers can they achieve goals.
To begin with, it is a proper mechanism that old leaders are replaced by new ones after several years. For one thing, after several years with supreme power, they apt to lose passion, inspiration and diligence about their work, even they may abuse their power only to chase interests for themselves instead of majorities as Sir. Action said" Absolute power leads to absolute corruption." Accordingly, those old leaders are not suitable for their positions which should be made contribution to others or even the whole society. For another thing, new leaders' joining, like new fresh air, imparts new ideas, vigor and their unique concepts towards such enterprise. With those characteristics, the whole situation would be revitalized and filled with energy. The example of Steve Jobs coming back to Apple Corporation can illustrate that clearly. In 1990s, Apple Corporation has become one of the famous companies after changing its CEO to Steve Jobs who generalizes ibook, ipod and some other new products. It is the new leadership that brings a significant change towards such enterprise.
However, we should not confused by the stereotype of old leadership and new leadership. That is to say, we should realize that some old leaders have their advantages as well as some new leaders have their demerits. On the one hand, old leaders are more experienced; wisdom and owning various social nets that can help them to deal with complex issues easily. Meanwhile their prestige make others readily implement when plans should be carried out. For instance, Putin, the premier of Russia nowadays, who have been president for 8 years are also welcomed by Russian due to his own charm, achievements and efficiency. It is no doubt that Putin, as an old leader, could also undertake the burden of promoting the development of Russia. On the other hand, new leaders probably are not familiar with their employees, which mean they do not know much about their advantages and disadvantages and could not achieve goals efficiently. At the same time, in virtue of immature social relationship with others, they may not work out plans easily as they imagined.
Last but not least, to make success, the flexible mechanism should be adopted. Namely, we may clear whether new or old leaders, whether 5 years is the deadline are not so important to achieve goals, the key point is whether they have passion, are fraught with energy, high ability and so forth. Probably the regular election is a proper way to examine whether such leader should step down and should be taken place by other new leaders who are more suitable. In addition, as the period that social and technological changes leading to complexity, it is not a society that belongs to individuals and cooperation becomes central and crucial to face such a challenging society. With the guidance of elected leaders, under the perfect cooperation, they may easily achieve goals.
To sum up, both new and old leaders have their advantages and their demerits. That is to say, no matter whether they are old or new, the key point is their ability and some other relevant qualities. With the proper guidance of elected leader, enterprise could get success under cooperation.
