The best way to travel is in a group led by the guide.


According to my own experience of travel with a guide, I would absolutely disagree with the statement above. Let me explain.

I once signed on a trip to Beijing in a travel agency and I expected the trip would be a very pleasant and comfortable one since the agency had already arranged everything including accommodation and the traveling route and there would be a guide leading us. However, the trip turned out to be terrible, at least not as wonderful as I had thought. First, being that all the group members took the same bus and lived in the same guesthouse and the guide had the responsibility not to let anyone fall behind or get lost, we had to move around together almost all the time. Although I had envisioned that situation, soon I got quite unsatisfied because I did not have the chance to visit places that I wanted to but not on the travel plan. Even when we visited some famous resorts such as the Summer Palace and we all wanted to spend a little more time there, the guide was rushing us to appreciate the beautiful views quickly in order to go to the next destination in time. Second, while the arrangement was in such a hurry the guide still spared some time to lead us to several markets so that she could gain money from those merchants because many tourists would probably buy things there. This also annoyed me for I had no interest on those expensive and meaningless products. In a word, that travel really disappointed me.

Seeing that the arranged travel experience is not a pleasant one, I took another trip to Beijing later. This time, all the arrangement was up to me and my friend traveling with me. Although finding a place to live and eat was sort of a trouble, we enjoy the freedom to eat wherever we liked. Also, we could stay up at night wandering along the street and enjoyed the great night scene of the city since we didn't have to get up early to hurry to the next destination. This time, I could finally appreciate the excellant views as long as I wanted to and there was no one could hurry me. My friend and I both felt satisfied and delighted with the trip.

To sum up, it is a better choice for me not to travel in a group led by a guide according to the given experience and I believe that many people have the same choice with me because travel by ourselves makes it possible to adjust our travel plan freely as well as the time we spend in a place. After all, it is definitely ourselves who knows how to gain the happiest trip.

In a word, that travel really disappointed me观点很明确跟导游的坏处，不过好像一般美国人写文章都喜欢第一句亮明观点，你这样虽然创新，但是可能不合对方口味也说不定；还有就是感觉lz的例子占得篇幅比较大，而论证的较少；而且是不是可以考虑下分成2段写？
