We all know that nowadays network plays an important role in modern society because it bridges almost the whole
world in perspective through Internet and makes it more easy and instant to convey information. Whereas along the
great convenience Internet brings to us, the information on Internet is far more than we can imagine. Many people
view the "information explosion" a delightful opportunity while some others think excessive news are such a trouble.
For me, I agree with the latter opinion and the reasons are as follows.
To begin with, despite the fact that Internet is a information platform with huge potential, it is also filled with so
many fake news and information that make it rather difficult for us to determine what is the truth and what is
untrue. In the past when people can only access news about what is going on in the world by limited means such as
newspaper, magazine and broadcast, news were more reliable although not as instant as it is today. In contrast, the
huge amount of fake information nowadays results in people's suspicious altitude towards news and the only truth
we are sure of is that we cannot simply believe what is said on Internet. More attention should be paid to tell the
fake news from truth and I really feel tired of being suspicious. Sometimes news that are contradictory to each other
occur at the same time, I just don't know which one to believe.
Also, the excessive information makes it more difficult to find what we really want since the useful information
might have already been hiden behind. I use Google a lot to help me search information about technology
development, solution to computer problems and so forth. But usually there are thousands of related news found
after I click the "search" button. Then what can I do? I have to click the entry of webpage one by one to see if there
is something useful for me. In most cases I just look at the links in the first page of search's result and give up if I
haven't find what I want.
To sum up, the information flood brought by Internet does more harm than good not only because it makes people
more suspicious about everything's reality but also for the difficulties it creates to dig out useful information from
the information sea. I really agree with the statement that the excessive information on Internet is not a very
pleasant thing.
