In the recent years, there is a generalcontroversy over the issue that which kind of media will help us trulyunderstand world event, newspaper or television? Although some people may claimthat from the traditional newspaper, people could get more information,personally I prefer to support that television is a very efficient mass mediafor public to understand the events, and I will provide concrete evidences todemonstrate my point of view.

First and foremost, information fromtelevision is so vivid that assist people to have a better understanding. It iswell known that television spread news in three dimensions, which means that itwill not only change in time and space, but also allow people to hear thesound, as a whole, give audiences an overall knowledge about the situation.Take reporting a basketball game as an example. On the TV, audiences can knowso much information about the competition, such as the personal performance ofevery player, the atmosphere in the basketball court, how team memberscorporate with each other, as well as the progress of this dramaticcompetition. As a result, through watching it from television, we will feelthat we are experience it lively by ourselves. However, if you read the newsfrom newspaper, perhaps you could only reach to the written description and theresults of that game, you will never image to have a deep impression about thegame. Accordingly, it is obvious that television will bring us a much morevivid comprehension about the news.


In the second place, news on television isupdated, in this way, people can also better understand the truth. It isuniversally acknowledged that television is broadcasting almost 24 hours everyday, what is more, the information on it is also updating at any time. Obviously,audiences could acquire the latest news as soon as possible from it, which willabsolutely make we are closer to the truth. For instance, when the earthquakelast year happened to Wenchuan at about 14:30,many people are sleeping at homeor working, some even were not aware of it, but minutes later, when the TV toldus there is a big earthquake attacks to Wenchuan, we could really know thesituation and take some measure to protect ourselves. What if we waiting forthe news from newspaper? Maybe there will be more death.

Last but not least, sometimes informationfrom newspaper is far from truth. Since, it is the journals who write as welledit the news on newspaper, it is apparent that there will be more or less somesubject opinions adding in it. But on TV, what appeared in front of us is thereal fact happened at that time, which is more impartial.
