In the reading passage, American consumers do not trust advertisements much in general. However, the professor argues that most consumer always hold the confidence in products recognized by some independent agencies or organizations. And they tend to invest money on products made by companies themselves, no matter they are campaigned by adertisements or not.
The second point is that since ecocertified wood will be more expensive than the uncerfied one, most American would select the the latter one for its lower price. The professor refute that standpoint by pharaphrasing that large part of American will pay attention to the prices when it come to two different price for same kinds of products, which are higher or lower. If no obvious distance exists between them, they would value some aspects such as features about environment protection ect.
The third view that most wood made by domestic companies is sold domestically instead of being marketed abroad instead, which is also opposed by the professor. Seeing a unsaturated market for ecocertified products, it is a good chance for foreign companies to crowd into American market to capture consumers interested in their wood-derived goods. So home companies should not slow their steps in this developemnt.

The second point (个人觉得应该指出是阅读还是听力里的观点)is that since ecocertified wood will be more expensive than the uncerfied one, most American would select the the latter one (用the second one会不会清楚点?)for its lower price. The professor refute (加s)that standpoint by pharaphrasing that large part of American will pay attention to the prices when it come to two different price for same kinds of products, which are(加上much之类的强调一下是价格差别很大的时候~) higher or lower. In this set of materials, the reading passage attempts to point out three major reasons why US wood companies will not be willing to receive ecocertification. But in the listening lecture, the professor closely reexamines these reasons by presenting a totally different perspective. And the professor finds that the theory stated in the passage was somewhat inaccurate, thus completely challenged the reading passage.

Firstly, in contrast to the statement stated in passage that US consumers haven’t much trust in the advertising claims about whether the company has such a ecocertification, the professor says that customers can distinguish the advertising and ecocertification through some independent organization which is very popular in US. They can help customers differ the advertising with or without ecocertification and provide customers with enough information to decide.

In addition, the professor claims that the slight price difference will not finally impact the consumers’ decisions, and US people have strong preference on the environmental-friendly products. However the reading passage states that if companies receive this certification, increase in operating cost will lead that customers choose other cheaper products.

Finally, the professor raises the issue that the purpose of receiving ecocertification for wood companies is not to meet the needs of oversea consumers but to prevent foreign competitions entering domestic market.

So based on the discussion above, the contents in the reading are thoroughly jeopardized by professor.
