Mistakes seem to be an inseparable part of our daily life. Scientists draw the finally conclusion after serious of mistaken experience; politicians find the best pattern of the society through numerous unsuccessful revolutions; and writers need to modify their works many times. Some people even claims that only through mistakes can there be discovery or progress. I concede this assertion, but to receive an overall picture of the role mistakes play we have to analysis this issue from a higher level.

It is hard to deny that mistakes contribute a lot in the process of discovery or progress. Mistakes, on other hand, mean you are trying to do something new or at least something you have never done before. Moreover, the more mistakes you make, the more you can learn and the closer you are to success. All mentioned above are obviously helpful in the process of discovery and progress.

However, it is also fact that not everyone can learn from mistakes and finally transform them into success. Whether mistake is useful to someone depends on what attitude you takes toward mistakes. When you make mistakes, the first thing you need to do is to admit that you make it rather than blame other people. The admission of a mistake moves your focus away from blame assignment and towards understanding. After taking your responsibility, the next step is to analysis the reason why you make this mistake calmly. Try to put yourself in the situation where you make it and find the reason. The finally step, of course, is to summarize and avoid making the same mistake in the future. When you finish all these steps, you are surely a step closer to discovery and progress.

Moreover, we shouldn't overstate the effect of mistakes in the process of discovery and progress and thus neglect the role of other factors. For example, we can also learn from our success. The experiences of success are important to the process of discovery and progress as well. Success offers us with a possible method which has been proved to be helpful to solve problems that are similar with. Success encourages us to step further in the exploration of unknown area. At the same time we would benefit from succeed for the reason that only when we solve problems that exist successfully, we will think more and make more discoveries and progress. Additionally, in most circumstances, our targets is not making mistakes but avoiding more mistakes. Instead of making mistake because of carelessness and ignorance, mistakes are only helpful when they remind people of what they have never taken into account.

To sum up, if an individual want to make a difference he should firstly learn how to take proper attitude toward mistakes then he need to know how to learn from them. Besides, he need to avoid making stupid and unnecessary mistakes which merely obstruct your way to success. Additionally, as an successful man, you are also expected to learn from other factors around you besides mistakes such as the success you have made.
