Were the most significant events and trends in history made possible by groups of people whose identities have long been forgotten, but not by the famous few? The speaker claims so. I partially agree with the speakers assertion that the groups of people are important to the improvement of society, but I think the famous few should not be ignored, especially when we learning history.

Admittedly, the groups of people are important to the improvement of society since nothing could be worked out without the help of great numbers of people; people are important to the history and society, sometimes play a significant way. For instance, the success of the Apollo program are regarded as a great improvement in the progression of human' s development, and what people noticed the most are the step that Neil Armstrong steps onto the moon, some people even do not know anything about the space program except Armstrong. But what I think the more important are experiment of scientists, mechanics, engineers or even those hard workers, without them, there would be no space ship, nor to the step of Armstrong. Just as the famous conclusion of a former president of China that only people are the creator of the history.

However, we should not ignore the importance of the famous few. As one could be famous or even significant to the history, there must be differences when compared with others, and most of them may be outstanding so that it is impossible to gain without them. We cannot imagine that what would America be like if George Washington did not appeared two hundred years ago, it is possible that America could be flourish like what it is now, but of course not so quickly. Thus, famous people are just like catalyze of improving the history.

Moreover, while researching the history, it is easier to look into the data of famous people rather than ordinary ones since there are of course more recordings of famous and they sometimes stand for groups of people. We could know world war two better through those generals of the armies but not ordinary soldier, we may have more understanding about France through Napoleon but not the dead people in the war of waterloo and it impossible to research the Great Wall without knowing the king of Qin dynasty. So, that is why the famous few are important.

In sum, I agree that the groups of people are important to the improvement of society, but I think the famous few should not be ignored, especially when we learning history.
