Cultural traditions stand as a good window to represent one society's characteristics. Under the wave of globalization, these traditions ever regarded as a symbol for a civilization can hardly survive in the big city. In contrast, the rural area provide them the last land to spawning. So disagree with the author's notion, I incline to the point that, the distinguish characteristics of a society is more easily found in rural area nowadays rather than major cities.

Undeniably, in ancient times, these cultural traditions which fully represent one community's unique traits were more easily booming and lasting in big cities. The better cultural environment and economic foundation in big cites is the guarantee for thriving of culture and tradition. In the picture of Old Rome, we could recognize the prosperity in both economy and tradition. People will never worry about the crops' supplement and enough money to maintain their happy life, they devote more time and enthusiastic to interpret the content of religion, art, and heritage from the formers, and then shape their own styles, such as giant pillars of the building and luxuriant garment on the clothes. All these part compose the integrity of Rome’s' characteristics: honor to the divinity and yearn for the luxurious life.

However, in the past few decades, the globalization has occupied in a lot of big cities, they introduce the new international conception and trait into the old society. This trend requires every place that involving in to change their traditional and cultural traits to better entering into the integration. For instance, when Europeans stepped on the land of Indian, the characteristics of Indians disappeared quickly. To facilitate the communication, more local teenagers began to learn English instead of old Indian; To eliminate the gap on appearance, more people put on black suit instead of traditional clothes. The distinguish characteristics of local residents fade away gradually, no room for this tradition is left.

On the contrary, rural areas remain as the last land where contains the old chrematistics of a society. First, thanks to the inconvenient communication with the out-world, few tradition is eroded by the global fashions. In the little college of England, we still can easily found out some gentlemen wearing their Scottish men skirt which is rarely seem in London. In addition, different from big cities, the dwellers in rural areas are generally old people who get relatively less influence from the outside. They always perform as the way they do in the early period of life, and be used to it. Because of this reason, the historians all around the world prefer to communicate with elder in little village to dig up the old local historic story and the unknown customs. As a result, more tradition and culture heritages are preserved in rural areas by old generation.

To sum up, due to the trend of globalization, more characteristics is disappearing, major cities no longer can act as the fertile field for his unique trait to development. To better interpret a society’s traits, researchers are advised to go to rural which conserve the incomplete heritage of old society.
