2.14 The purpose of television should be all educative, not entertain.
  Concerning  the merits of enterainment brought by television, I agree with the statement that we should use television as a vehicle not only for education ,but also for entertainment.

  To begin with,it is indisputable that television was invented as a media for public entertainment initially.In contrast, televison was applied in the education field with the development of high-technology in recent decades.Nevertheless, in most developing countries, television is still used as a major entertainment channel.For example, in the mountain areas in China, such as Tibet, people cannot find any else entertainment activities after daily work.The only thing they can do is sitting around a table to enjoy TV shows for joy.Hence, if television is not allowed for the purpose of divesion, seldom do they have any other interesting activies in their spare time.

  Furthermore, it is undeniable that we can also attain knowledge from some entertainment shows.For example, Discovery Channel is well known for its reputation in both education and entertainment.Last week, I watched its program about introducing sorts of bacteria which exsist in humman's boby. This program guilded me into a brand new area in biology realms.From this TV show, I recognize some kinds of bacteria and their positive influence on our immune systems.However, it is not just an education TV programs, since it was accompanied with humerous interpretion  and left us interesting topics to discuss.From this case, I gain a lot of joy from watching such TV programs.So, I think we shouldn't completely seperate education from entertainment, because they can be intergrated well.

  Finally, with the development of multi-media, more and more wonderful TV shows attract public's attention, thus causing some audiences to be addict in watching TV. Admittedly, some TV show for entertaining will have negative impact on individual's life.However,we can't constrain public to relax themselves by watching TV in their spare time, but guild them to well control their entertainment time.

  Judging from what I mentioned above, the importantce of entertainment brought by watching TV can not be ignored in our daily life. Meanwhile, it is not conflict to ultilize televison as a purpose for both education and entertainment.Therefore, I support the opinion that televsion should not be forbided for entertainment.
