As modern technology is developing rapidly, people in everywhere of the world can get the access to learn the beautiful scenery and exotic customs of far away places benefiting from television and Internet connections. However, the author's statement that tourism will soon be obsolete because of this kind of "household traveling" turns out to be superficial. In my opinion, though new technology has given us such convenience,  it would never satisfied us the true meaning of traveling, nor arise the decline in tourism.

Nowadays, with the help of the development of technology, media can transmit information of all kinds within seconds. People could learn things that they have never met before through television and Internet, there is more information on hand to the average person than ever in history. This is a facilitated way to broader our eyesights, gaining knowledge, and learning about other places we are not familiar with. Instead of magazines , books or even radios, television and Internet can provide us more vivid and emotional reflections of other places. So it is a pleasure and cheap way for us to stay at home, enjoying this "television traveling."

However, such far away looking method is very different from acting by ourselves. As we all know, the purpose of traveling is to go out of the environment that we are familiar with, and experiencing other scenery and customs, thus providing us leisure and releasing. We cannot have such strong physically and mentally enjoyment  only stay at home at watching TV.  Unless we have the e of the experiences by ourselves can we have the excitement of skating from Alps, rather than watching on television. When we standing at the foot of the Great Wall and touching the stone walls that constructed by Chinese thousand years ago, we will have the admiration and moving toward ancient people's labour and wisdom. Only when we swimming in the sea and lying under the sun of Hawaii can we have the feeling about the warmth and comfort that life offered to this beautiful island. So only through television and Internet, we could not get the direct reflections of our mother nature, then the tourism will not suffer a decline because of the thrive of TV traveling program.

In addition to that basically concept, on the contrary, I believe that kind of transmission by television and Internet will contribute to the prosperity of tourism. Since many programs are presenting us interesting sites we have never been attained before, they will attract people who love traveling to go to that place by himself. Since modern media have advantage in transmitting informations, we also got vivid and touching impressions of the traveling sites. The World Tourism Organization predicts that international tourism will continue growing at the average annual rate of 4 percent. And this is also benefits from the convenient information transmission that new technology gives us.

From the analysis mentioned above, I hold that people can now become familiar with a great many places that they have never been before through the help of modern television and computer connections, but the technology only provided us a more accessible way to get information, not depriving us the passionate of traveling. Besides, modern technology might also help the development of tourism. So if we make a good use of these technology, our tourism will certainly not becoming obsolete.
