The reading passage indicates that those private fossils collectors are not playing positive roles in keeping ancient fossils. It causes the public and scientist missed to connect with fossils. The speaker, however, refutes what the reading supports with more details and information.
To begin with, public institutes are gained the opportunity to see fossils. It will not lead to the public would(跟前面will重复,可删) lose interests in watching ancient fossils as the article mentioned. From lecturer, public organizations do have chances to enjoy fossils because private collectors would take presentation of fossils for commercial purpose(翠花的理解有偏差,lecture说Commercial fossil hunting使个人购买化石成为可能,这样即使是学校或图书馆也可以买一些化石并展示给大众), which those fossils are exposed to the public.
Then, it is the scientists who distinguished fossils by their knowledge and information. It is true that fossil owners have desire to(直接desire to就可以) keep fossils privately(加这个词更好), however, scientists need to(感觉这里用need to有主动要求的意思,实际上科学家应该是被需要,换成 are needed to会不会更好?) identify fossils before they are purchased and collected private collectors. Hence, fossils are still gone through scientists, who do not miss out to check those fossils.
Finally, more fossils could not be discovered without fossils owners(commercial fossil collectors). Even if private fossils collectors may produce adverse impact on fossils, a large number of fossils are still discovered by scientists under the encouragement of private fossil owners. The reason is that less public organizations have willing to collect fossils, consequently, private fossil owners continue exert active role in fossils collected.(最后理解有误,这是我听写的:Finally, whatever damage commercial fossil collectors sometimes do, if weren’t for them, many fossils would simply go undiscovered, because there aren’t that many fossil collecting corporations that run by university and other scientific institutions. Isn’t it better for scientists to at least have more fossils being found, even if we don’t have all the scientific data we would like to have about their locations’ surroundings, than at least to have many fossils go completely undiscovered?对照一下,翠花。) Therefore, the speaker completely changes the theory in reading passages with more knowledge and evidence.
