In this argument, the letter recommends a new policy that the Pierce University should spent money on making a chance of employment for the most gifted teachers' and researchers' spouses in order to
attract those professors to this faculty and improve the morale of the entire staff. Additionally, to validate the recommendation, the letter reveals some studies conducted by B College, which is also located in a small town, show that professors are willing to live in small towns when their spouses are also employed in the same area. So even though they cannot expect all offers to be satisfied with the job offer or to be accepted, it would be worthy of investing the money in this effort. This argument is unconvincing as it is based on another school's survey and a complete lack of evidence to support its conclusion.


In the first place, the letter fails to provide any useful and meaningful statistical evidence on the studies conducted by B college. Therefore we cannot confidently say that the survey is representative and reflects the true feeling of professors from the college. An inability to know the number of both male and female teachers in the survey and in the whole school keeps us from trusting the result. What's more the happier sense in living such a small town leads us unknown that it is true that the feeling comes from their spouses' employment or just the lower price of subjects and fresh air in such a small place. Hence, without more specific information, we can suspect any conclusion from the survey.

Secondly, even assuming that the current studies are reliable, there is no proof presented that the means in the B College can be utilized in the P University. Obviously, the letter fails to account for other possible dissimilarities between the two schools, maybe the talented researchers just focus on the high salary and the high level academic circumstance, which otherwise the P University cannot provide. Moreover, even if the potential teachers come to the school, there is no evidence to guarantee or predict that they will be helpful to the entire staffs' morale. While it is likely that there are people who are not happy to do experiment with the new professors, It is equally likely that even increasing the enthusiasm of every teacher's exploration, the faculty such cooks and cleaners who are lack of professional knowledge cannot be spurred to work with more passion. So the author does not provide any evidence whatsoever that the feasibility of method in P University not that the trend in enhancing the whole morale.

Thirdly, even assuming that more and more excellent professors are inclined to joy in the P University and booster the morale than ever before, the writer claims that the money invested in this effort will clearly be well spentapparently based solely in the imagination and assumption. We cannot be convinced due to lacking of the comparable number in money, for example, how much money the professors would create and earn for school and how much money the school would spend on hiring the spouses and provide the salary for them. There is no support to show that this would be the case.

In summary, no convincing survey is offered that if their spouses have an opportunity of employment, new teachers will be more likely to accept the offers. This argument is also based on mere speculation with absolutely no cause and effort evidence presented to show that the two areas are comparable. Furthermore, there is no support for the idea that it is wise to spend the money in the plan of employment. This argument should be rejected due to the lack if any supporting evidence that offering the job for the professors' spouses, schools will get more possibility of attracting the gifted teachers and researchers.
