TOPIC: ISSUE69 - "Government should place few, if any, restrictions on scientific research and development"
Totally, government has the responsibility of provide a sufficient freedom and space in the process of the exploration in science. But the leader should have the ability to distinguish whether the goal set before the experiment is appreciative. The scientific creation should serve our humanity and society under the consideration of protecting the profits of a nation.
Admittedly, an ability to offer more support to the scientific career is a indication that the government has the vision of the future and smart due to the thought that more and more modern creativity could make our nation beautiful and marvelous and enhance the living and comfort level. If the leader
rules some certain policy to limit the original right to develop the scientific project, the profession controlling the experiment would be boring ,lack of passion or even giving up, which, to some extent, would be a considerable waste in
time money energy and talented people. You can imagine ,for example, under the limitation
that the researchers have to get the admission about whether the cells or bacteria could
be utilized in the next step of the experiment, it would
cost so much time that the cell cannot wait and die. The project would be a fall no matter how successful the work before is. Hence, under the specific situation, the government cannot make some obstacle to the science.
However, the destination of science should be based on the fact that lifting the overall ability of a nation and creating unity and social solidarity by the right and meaningful actions. Obviously, the breakthroughs in cloning are helping to unravel the mystery of our lives, holding out new lifesaving cures to some of the dreaded diseases. while cloning, as a double-edged sword, would bring disaster if improperly used, even greater than ever before. If the cloning would be utilized on humankind ignoring legal and ethics, it would throw chaos into our ordered society, if the government does not take actions to it.
Furthermore, not only the government but the common people should realize that the science cannot solve all the problems, otherwise will cause new troubles. Thus, the leader have to deal with the more significant and meaningful one. For example, if the research presented lead to serious environment and ecological problem, the official cannot wait and prevent the worse trend immediately. So, to be strict with the science is both to support it and to be helpful than detrimental to society.
In summary, the government would be able to protect the scientific work by not only making relevant laws but granting as well. Thus, a better environment will be a indispensable factor to the success of the science. |
