Tradition is a sample of recording the history of a development from a nation. At the same time, the modernization is another sample of reflecting the advancing level of a nation. The author states that the tradition and modernization are incompatible, so different with each other, leading to individuals to choose between them. However, to me, the two things are not opposite, and we can depend on the current situation to boost our society by the means of modern knowledge and information. What's more, more useful and meaningful culture from the tradition should be accepted by the public.

Firstly, the modern things are indeed not similar to the ancient ones. With the considerable development and change of the society, more and more new subjects are coming to our lives, bringing marvelous change to us. When our country wants to make a way from the remote farm to the relatively prosperous city, we can make use of the modern equipment such as tracks, to turn the land into the wide highway more efficiently and effectively instead of spending lots of human power to exhaust energy and time. When we wants to keep contact with our friends, the one thing we can do is to deliver an electronic mail from the privacy of our own home, using just one minute to pass our wishes, without going outside to send a letter not knowing how much time the friends can get it or even it could be lost in the way. With the aid of the modern technology, why we should choose the method in the ancient, out of date and far away from the high speed of the modern society.

However, not all the things in the old times should be given up. There are still some values passed by from the generation to the generation and worthy learning the modern people and even the people in the future. Values such as honesty, persistence, kindness probity and so on are still the core things inculcated by the parents and school systems. We should define one as a better society characterized by greater viewpoints and people, who are different from ourselves, greater respect for individual rights, and greater cooperation between the cultural and academic boundaries, so we have to train and cultivate ourselves better skills to communicate with each other, to respect the people such as various groups and race, and stand more high standard to require ourselves.

We can not say which one is more important, and we can not choose between them.
With any parts of the two cultures, the society would become stopping and depression. Without the modernization, our society would slow down the speed towards undesirable and unprogessing world. Without the value of history, we could miss ourselves in the world full of marvelous addiction and distraction.

So in summary, the tradition and modernization are not incompatible. They are both the powerful tools to the advancement of the humanity and the society. We should choose the advantages and merits from both the period to serve to our world due to the destination of boost and enhance our world.
