Students should bring a certain skepticism to whatever they study. They should queation what they are taught instead of accepting it passively.
Skepticism, broadly defined as curious, denote or daunt something or some attitudes, was consider to the most important spirit in every fields of our study. Not to say sciences and arts are include, even education itself, or social study, should also use skepticism to create or innovate a better realm of those subjects.
So coming first we here confirm that in physical science, it is essential to advocate the spirit of skepticism push forward our science innovation. For example, it is Sir Essac Newton who questions the reason of apple drop to ground after mature or harvest that finally lead him to discover the Three Laws of Mechanics and push him to throne of science during the industry revolution which finally take the world into Capitalist Society, while in his old age, he pay more attention to material comforts and life satisfaction not any concentration or wills on science, finally he use all his energy on theology and lose his skepticism and curiosity, and of course, no research results after then. So clearly we may find that how important it is to keep the spirit of skepticism in mind.
Surely not only physical science like maths, chemistry etc, or metaphysics
that require skepticism to calm mind to discover and research, but also that arts like painting or sculpture that need this spirit to initiate new arts. For example, if all students merely learn to imitate one person's work, say Van Gogh's works, rather than challenge the established styles and forms, then what will be final result of this art education or imitation? We may confidently permit that in the future, art equals Van Gogh, and Van Gogh is the form of art. That may seems a bit horrible but it is true that if there is no skepticism, there is no innovation and creation; There is no innovation and creation, there is only left old styles and forms. Skepticism is the original source of energy that push forwards the development of arts.
Besides these two, the last but not the least, we come to about the essential role skepticism plays in some social sciences. Let's take the political science as an instance, during the Medieval period, the kings and the Church rules the world and the only right and obligation for the poor was to suffer this pain and get an beautiful lie that after dies they can be in the Haven, however, in the Renaissance, Dante daunt that every man not just the missionaries, has the right to enjoy lives, and the great philosopher Montesquieu create the division of social right-- the power of administrate, legislative and jurisdiction--that help set democrat in many countries. All in all, from what has been discussed above, we may finally draw the conclusion that skepticism should be taken to whatever study--sciences, arts and sociology etc. Moreover, students should always keep a curious mind which help them wondering and questioning new-learnt knowledge that finally would lead them to success.
