Riruals and ceremonies last along with the human history in every culture and nation. In ancient times, people held
sacrifice to pray for God's bless. Nowadays, various holidays are set to attract the mass to participate in. Rituals and
ceremonies play an important part in cultures and social life across the world.
Seen from the various rituals and ceremonies, the characteristics of each culture reflect well. Thousands of hundreds
of people of Islamism pilgrimage to the holy city--Mekka--to participate in the rituals. No matter whether God exists or not,
their belief in the God gives them impetus of life and restraint in morality, which both can make their spirits stronger when
facing difficulties or frustrations. Through such ceremonies of pilgrimage, the believers feel the god's existance and better
understand the doctrine of thier region. This helps them reinforce their faith in Islamism and reflect it in their daily life.
Among the huge groups of pilgrims, however, not everyone is devout believer. Parts of them behave extremily the same
as those devout ones. They don't eat polk, don't drink wine and beer or smoke. They go to churches and participate in rituals
and ceremonies as others do. But they do all these due to various causes but not belief. They may not eat polk because they are
forbidden to eat it. In their minds, the pigs never act as an holy animal which should be respected. Meanwhile, they go to
churches because others all go. Going to churches don't express any exteem to the god but not going would mean rejection from
others. Does god really exist? These people don't care. They have no idea about god, Islamism and even themselves. Maybe they
can hardly find out why they "believe in" Islamism. Moreover, because of their inconstancy of their believe, rituals and
ceremonies can make them even comfused,in which situation, they have done things according to the doctrine but don't get the very
blessing belongs to. Rictuals and ceremonies seems to have no ways to help them define themselves.
Nowadays, due to the rapid development of science and technology, rationlism steps up and we all see the loss of beliefs.
Money become the only and ultimate aim. Rituals and ceremonies are still held around us, but we can't see anything truly meaningful
behind the splendid scenes. Holidays are set to remind us of not forgetting the past and the essences in our traditions. But
how many people do think over the contents behind these holiday? For quite a number of people, holiday is rest day, playing day,
or still working day. Rituals and cenemonies appear more like a piece of cloud in the sky of current time, which people pay
little attention to. Maybe sometimes it has a beatiful shape,and then people would raise their eyes and speak highly of its
beauty.
When we trace back to the origin of these rituals and ceremonies, we can see the significance of them clearly. Along
with the process of society, all these significance diminishes. At the same time, the loss of spirits spreads across the whole
society. When people come into the gorgeous but vain rituals and ceremonies, they find no cuture and themselves which ,originaly,
should be found.
