There is a big problem in education at the college and university level that what students learned are not fit for the requirement of society. Many graduates may feel powerless to do jobs. This problem know is seriously and need to be solved. In order to solve the problem and improve the quality of instruction. It is importent to connect the academic world with society. As guides, some teachers should first touch the outside world. However, it is not necessary for all faculty to do that, and the job they do in outside should not affect the daily instruction.
In some realm, book knowledge could not fit for the society needs. For example,Opera performence. It hard to image books can tell students how to be an actor, even a singer. And just tell students how to sing can't produce good singers. In the stage a actor is not stay there and sing songs with her bright voice. Instead, she must be in the role and perform the insides of the person she acted with her songs and actions. That call for the teacher fist be an actor. Only through that, the teacher can tell not only how to sing songs but also how to express them and how to act out them. Also, a experienced teacher can give students suggest about the accidents which are commen occur during the performance and how to solve them. They are very important
It can not deny the importance of working outside the academic world,but there are still somethings should be take care of . As the energy of a person is limited, over working outside may course the teachers do not have enough time to take care of the instruction. It need the teachers to call for a balance between the outside work and inside work. It should be notice that, for a teacher, the students are most important of all. In some cases when there not enough to do both jobs, the academic one should be at the first place. What's more, teachers need to accumulate informations for student not just earn money .Keep a good balance can improve the quality of instruction in those realms.
However, there is no 万灵药in the world. Though, teachers in some realm do need to take prectise outside their academic world,others may not. In some thery subjects, the vital job for teachers is just to study in the academic world. For instance, a English teacher in China do not need to be a translater or a English writer. The best way to study English well is to read it often and use it. Thus, the students should do some outside job for example translate books,not the teachers. In that case, whether do the outside work depends on the different quatity of realm.
To sum up, in some realm, require the teachers to work outside the academic world is important to improve the quality of instruction. During the two kind of film, teacher should call for a balance and do the best as a teacher. While,there are many other approaches for example encourage students to do part-time jobs and so on. It should be flexible.
